DOM Conformance problems

Up to date, Firefox browser is not working well for the following two web applications popular in Malaysia.

1. The Sun E-Paper.

See, Javascript object not able to load properly. It is working fine in I.E. This is due to the problem with DOM standard where certain API are not cross browser.

I am surprised that it took them so long to identify this problem and to resolve it. This proves that majority of this epaper users are using Internet Explorer as their browser while those technical people like me usually just don't care and bother to complain. Blogging is not complaining, it is just highlighting.

The ePaper is powered by BodhTree Solutions.

2. WA Online Malaysia.

WA online malaysia, a political driven chinese oriented radio stationed now available online, which uses Microsoft Media technology for its broadcasting service.

Whenever the homepage of WA Online is being launched from the browser, MSN Media Player will be loaded and audio would thus be streamed towards users. The script to launch the player is:

<object ID="mediaplayer" CLASSID="clsid:6BF52A52-394A-11D3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" width="0" height="0"><param name="uiMode" value="invisible"></param><param NAME="URL" VALUE="mms://radio.waonline.com.my/waonline"></param></object>

It seemed that Firefox is not able to comprehend and thus process this script.

Also, nobody really cares much about it.

To bad for Sun ePaper then. Half of the Internet users can't use it. Microsoft has stop developing IE for the Mac,.. so I can use it at all.
