Beware of Vishing

I got this email from a friend...

We have seen emails scams where recipients are directed to fake websites seeking their financial details quite a while. People are more aware of those schemes now. However, a new method of gaining financial information has emerged.

Its call Vishing. Criminals are sending emails asking people to call a number where their personal information is taken through touch-tone or through recorded messages urging them to enter their account details. The technique has been dubbed "Vishing" because it combines email requests with VoIP phone services that can appear to be in any city, regardless of where the criminals are located. Another scam uses only telephones - bulk dialing, warning of fraudulent credit card use, and then requesting credit card and security code information.

Remember, common sense is the first line of defense!!

Be cautious! If you receive such emails, please delete them at once and inform the Security Unit immediately!
