What we can do with Google Apps ?

Check out this and this.
I have been thinking, what we can really make out of Google Apps ?

Google Calendar – scheduling ?
Google Base – Marketing ?
Google Web pages – web page lar.

Google Standard Edition only provides 6 components…

Start Page, Chat, Web Pages, Email, Calendar, Docs.

Google reckons that with these 6 components, anyone can start a business.

Its strategy to enter the enterprise market is through its APIs.

The difference between editions is:

Google Apps Standard Edition

Google Apps Premier Edition

Google Apps Educational Edition

The API is actually meant to be used by other applications (such as horizontal apps) to communicate with Google Apps.

I don’t think the API(s) will allow one to communicate between spreadsheet and calendar.

Therefore, new business startup don’t actually need to use API(s).

However, over here, it states that you can display upcoming event (from Google Calendar) in Google Maps.

And this URL gives a hint where…
  • Calendar – whatever to do with Calendar like (Birthday reminder, scheduling, reservation for something, project management and etc).
  • Spreadsheet – whatever to do with spreadsheet like (accounting system, project management, graphing, reporting)
The idea is that now Google Apps provides one with two things:
  • Database – Using either Calendar or Spreadsheet as database
  • Engine – The engine will make provision for data access, functions and interface to API(s).
Maybe entry level entrepreneurs can make a good cash flow by providing services on top of Google Apps.
