SAS takes part in WCIT Again

KUALA LUMPUR, 21 April 2008, - SAS Institute, the world’s leading business intelligence (BI) software provider, today announced that it is participating in the 16th World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT). SAS is the only independent BI vendor sponsor for WCIT 2008 to be held in Kuala Lumpur from May 18 – 22, 2008.

This is also the second time that SAS is taking part in this global IT event of Olympian-stature that is held once every two (2) years.

SAS’ involvement in WCIT 2008 flourished from a private meeting between YAB Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and SAS CEO Dr Jim Goodnight during his inaugural visit to Malaysia in June 2007; where Dr Goodnight advocated for a greater adoption of BI and Analytics within the Malaysian government to gain competitive edge.

During WCIT 2008, SAS will be represented by Jim Davis, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer who will be speaking on the topic “Information Evolution” during the CIO perspective segment.

SAS Malaysia Managing Director, Jimmy Cheah says, “Asia is seeing an upsurge in BI adoption in various industries, quickly upstaging its western counterparts. Data volumes are predicted to double in quantity every single day in 2010 and corporations that leverage the power of BI and Analytics on their data will be the ones that gain competitive edge for better decision making and management.”

“WCIT is a strategic platform for IT corporations to build strategic partnerships and gain insight into global trends and the latest innovations. SAS is proud to be part of this global event to showcase our leading enterprise intelligence and performance management solutions,” says Cheah.

Themed “The Global Impact of Information and Communications Technology: Enable Businesses, Empower Societies, Enrich Economies”, this five (5) day event is expected to draw more than 2,500 delegates from over 80 countries.
