SOLARWINDS ESTABLISHES ASIA-PACIFIC HEADQUARTERS IN BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA

SolarWinds  a leading provider of powerful and affordable IT management software for more than 97,000 companies worldwide, announced today that it has established its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Brisbane, Australia.

The Brisbane office will offer sales, customer support, and services for Australasia and the greater Asia-Pacific region. The office will also have a development team focused on localization of SolarWinds’ network, application and storage management products. Doug Hibberd, who has led SolarWinds’ global research and development organization since 2006, has been named General Manager of APAC Operations and will be based in Brisbane and will continue in his role as Senior Vice President of Engineering.

“We see tremendous opportunity for SolarWinds in this region, based on the level of growth we have driven over the last twelve months. Our easy to use, powerful and affordable software combined with our web-based marketing model give us a competitive advantage that few other enterprise software companies can match,” said Kevin Thompson, President and CEO, SolarWinds. “Through the addition of the Brisbane office, we intend to continue the expansion of our presence in APAC in 2011, including opening markets where we have previously not offered our products.”

A key reason for establishing a presence in Brisbane is to help support the company’s efforts to localize its IT performance management product family in order to more effectively enter new markets, such as Japan. The office will also serve as a hub for expanding partner and development opportunities in the region, including those with key channel and technology leaders. Hibberd, along with Gary Angel who was previously announced as Vice President, APAC Sales, will lead these efforts on behalf of SolarWinds.

“Brisbane was a clear choice for us,” said Doug Hibberd, SVP of Engineering and General Manager APAC Operations, SolarWinds. “The team we are building in Brisbane will be tasked with several priorities in the coming 12 months, from supporting the continued expansion of our presence in region, to preparing our product suite for entrance into new markets. We believe that this community has the talent pool and local support needed to help us achieve our goals.”

Doug Hibberd joined SolarWinds in Aug 2006 as Vice President of Product Development, and since 2008 has led global Research and Development and Customer Support as Senior Vice President of Engineering. Prior to joining SolarWinds, Mr. Hibberd held Vice President and Chief Technology Officer positions at a number of US technology companies, including: RealVue Simulation Technologies, ForwardVue Technologies, FreeMarkets, and Trilogy Software. He holds a technical degree in mechanical engineering from Sydney Technical College and has received fundamentals of engineering certification from the United States National Council of Examiners for Engineering.

SolarWinds’ new office is located in the Brisbane Central Business District at 127 Creek St.
The company was established in 1998, employs more than 400 people worldwide, and is headquartered in Austin, Texas. The company also has international locations in Singapore; Chennai, India; Cork, Ireland; and Brno, Czech Republic.
