SAS Malaysia Channel Partners’ Sales Grows 70 percent

SAS Malaysia, the leading business analytics solutions and services provider, shares that its local channels’ sales contribution to the company’s revenue in 2011 has increased significantly by 70 percent as compared to year 2010.

According to SAS Malaysia’s Alliance and Channels Director, Jonathan Lee, the notable growth in the channels’ sales is mainly driven by the increased demand for business analytics (BA) in various local sectors including financial services, oil and gas, telecommunication, government, retail, commercial, and SMEs.

“There has been a significant increase in demand for business analytics in the past year and therefore we are ramping up our support to local partners who have expertise in risk intelligence, customer intelligence and information management in order to deliver analytics solutions to local businesses,” says Lee.

Speaking at the recent SAS Partner Excellence Awards 2012 here in Kuala Lumpur, Lee shared that SAS has enhanced its Alliance and Channel Partners Programme to incentivize as well as enable local IT consulting companies to scale up their expertise in the areas of predictive analytics with specific domain industry knowledge in order to deliver successful analytics implementations.

In 2011, SAS' key milestones together with its local Malaysian channel partners include:

  1. The country’s first analytics solution project win in the local Oil and Gas (O&G) sector - SAS worked with ProTechnology Sdn Bhd to successfully penetrate the O&G market to provide one of the largest national O&G organizations with predictive capabilities to prevent machinery failures.
  2. Venturing into the local Insurance Sector - SAS teams up with Analytical Intelligence Solutions Sdn Bhd to provide a business intelligence insurance framework and data model for insurance service providers to improve overall business performance that involved two insurance companies in Malaysia.
  3. SAS’ largest software deal in FSI - Leveraging channel partner Pilot Multimedia Sdn Bhd’s niche domain expertise in front-end Credit Grading System, SAS provided a comprehensive set of credit scoring solution for a local Islamic Bank to boost its organization-wide risk financing evaluation capabilities.
Recruitment of New Overseas Channel Partners to Malaysia

SAS will also be expanding its local alliance and channel portfolio by bringing in overseas channel partners. "We brought in SPM Consulting (Pvt) Limited - a Pakistan system integration IT company with specific domain expertise in operations risk management projects across the Asia Region. With them, SAS has successfully implemented operational risk solution for a local financial institution.” “SAS Malaysia will bring in more global expertise from Norway, Singapore, Pakistan, India and others to share their best practices in analytics implementations.”

Financial Contribution by SAS Malaysia Channel Partners

Today, the local channel partners’ strategy is consistently contributing 36 percent of SAS Malaysia’s new software revenue. “Currently, SAS Malaysia has 36 channel partners. The combined capabilities of SAS and the expertise of local channel partners complement each other and enhances the value offered to our customers in terms of delivering industry specific analytical solutions," ends Lee.
