Sophos Appoints New Managing Director for Asia Pacific

IT security and data protection company Sophos announced the appointment of Stuart Fisher to the role of managing director for Asia Pacific, effective immediately. He replaces Rob Forsyth who will continue with Sophos as a non-executive director. Fisher will continue to be based in Singapore, and will report to senior vice president of Worldwide Sales and Field Operations Michael McGuinness.

Fisher was formally vice president of sales for Asia Pacific at Sophos. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading regional operations and driving overall business growth for Sophos across Asia Pacific excluding Japan. He will continue to lead the regional sales, marketing and support teams to spearhead go-to-market strategies and deliver on revenue plan for the region.

Forsyth, who has had tenure with Sophos for over 10 years and contributed immensely to the company’s growth and success in the region, will assume the role of a non-executive director, where he will be primarily involved in strategic marketing and publicity initiatives for Sophos in the region, through public relations, government and industry engagements.

“The time was ripe for Sophos to accelerate the growth across the region and Stuart has the creative energy and passion for this. Over the last 15 months, Stuart has overseen the Asia pacific sales function, and his drive for growth has served the company, the resellers and our customers well,” commented Forsyth. “He has a strong and dedicated existing team and I will be remaining in the business to support him. He has both my congratulations and best wishes.”

Prior to joining Sophos in 2010, Fisher was a vice president at Sybase, an SAP company. He also held several regional-level management, sales and marketing roles in Asia Pacific at SAP between 2001 and 2009.

“It’s an exciting time for Sophos, and the aggressive growth plans and level of investment we’re injecting across Asia Pacific is significant. Sophos has a highly compelling proposition to any organisation that is looking for a vendor that has a complete IT security portfolio backed by years of engineering excellence, unrivalled support and a fully engaged channel. For me, the change in role provides even greater opportunity to further escalate Sophos’s market dominance in our existing and newer emerging territories in the region, which is very appealing,” said Fisher.
