Barracuda started off with just one product; Barracuda Spam & Firewall in year 2003.
Almost one decade later, it has continued to expand its portfolio through new developments and acquisitions. All products are connected via a concept of centralized management, where the appliances, cloud services and user community are linked together collectively via the Barracuda control center.
Barracuda prides itself upon its intelligent threat detection database and operating procedures where threats patterns are constantly being monitored and discovered from existing customer sites and later to be shared to all.

In Malaysia itself, the top 5 banks are using its products. It is relying on channels for sales and marketing where key partners are companies like Kabaz Sdn. Bhd., Mesiniaga, Packet Systems Malaysia and etc. These channels and local teams cover verticals which include the public sector.
The computer security and networking industry is a big one. The enterprise security market alone is expected to exceed $22 billion in 2012. Therefore, there is no doubt that everywhere you go, some companies are providing some sort of solutions - Barracuda Networks is competing with just about anybody in the market.
According to Rick Tam, the Hong Kong based Regional Director-Asia, the good thing about using channel sales is that you can always leverage on sales than to encourage sales - it makes a significant difference in terms of strategy.
To leverage on sales means that someone is already selling something to some customers and they may be looking for complementary products to patch things up or simply just to upsell. The fact that businesses always need to sell to make money, the momentum of sales in this manner proves to work well for Barracuda whose products are entirely appliances with minimal configurations and literally plug and play where it fits best.
One sure thing is that Barracuda is not providing core networking solutions such as the likes of Cisco, Brocade and Juniper. Those are the guys who connects the dots, Barracuda extends the dots by providing SECURITY, APPLICATION DELIVERY and DATA PROTECTION.
For this reason alone, it is enough to have encouraged venture capitalists to invest in the company which had fueled its expansion throughout the years.

Rick Tam opines that many enterprises are not prepared for any form of the network security today - yes, we took things for granted! But cyber criminals are getting more sophisticated so to speak. The BYOD trend is also expected to take the whole scenario for a greater spin, creating more new challenges - the need for security protection is getting complex - and Barracuda sees this as a mission to help with the situation.
Good for Barracuda. Each day, two of the top 25,000 domains serve malicious content. Over 97 percent of the sites that served malicious content were at least one year old; over half were on sites more than five years old. This indicates that attackers use well-established, long-lived websites for their drive-by download campaigns.
