PR - Aug 22, 2014 - TE Connectivity Launches Fiber Solution for Malaysian Data Centers

According to the Malaysian Data Center Alliance (MDCA), as the world moves toward outsourcing their data center needs, the South-East Asia region’s data centers are projected to be worth approximately USD10.9 billion.

In recent months, the Malaysian government has sent out a strong message that it is preparing to capture this market and grow the data center space from 0.5 million to 5 million square feet by 2020. True to its word, Malaysia’s data center industry continues on an upward trend, recording over RM630 million in revenue in 2013, a 40% increase from 2012. In Q12014, there were 23 data center providers in Malaysia under the ETP’s Entry Point Project 3 (EPP3), which generated RM630 million in revenues for the year 2013, surpassing the targeted projection of RM563 million by 12%. With such positive growth within a short period of time, Malaysia is poised to achieve a world class data center hub status by 2020.

However with increasingly cloud based applications, devices, data usage, mobile workers and services, businesses need their Data Centers to adapt to much higher speeds. There are several technological investments and decisions Data Center owners and infrastructure managers need to make in order to make Malaysian Data Centers fit to realize the ambition of data center hub status and remain relevant in a competitive ASEAN market in the years to come.

TE Connectivity’s 24 Fiber solution for Data Centers: 24-fiber MPOptimate System, an ultra-low loss connectivity solution that will enable data-center managers to make the transition from 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) to 40 and 100 GbE applications more smoothly and efficiently.

It is based on the company's ultra low loss MPOptimate fiber-optic connector.

PR - Aug 21, 2014 - Telefonica and Brocade Establish Benchmarks for NFV Deployment and Performance

Telefónica and Brocade have established benchmarks for the deployment and performance of Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) solutions. Testing provided clear evidence that will fundamentally alter the performance range service providers can expect from virtualized, software-based networking infrastructure. The Brocade vRouter 5600 achieved 80Gb/s on a Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) x86 server deployed within a Red Hat KVM environment as a single virtual machine (VM) that supported all of the server’s available ports at line rate.

The promise of NFV is rapid service creation and highly elastic scalability and the test results allowed an aggressive change of perspective for carrier networkers. The Brocade vRouter 5600 is a core component at the Network Services Layer of the Brocade Vyatta Platform, and it removed the performance barrier from the NFV adoption conversation. An upcoming coming update will further advance the NFV solution’s capabilities as Brocade accelerates its aggressive investment in modern software to bring high-value technology disruptions across a wide range of networking capabilities for carrier networking.
