PR - Sep 3, 2015 - BAE Systems Extends Malaysian Cyber Security Portfolio with Launch of Cloud-Based Solutions

Building on its strong presence and portfolio in the country, BAE Systems is augmenting its security offering of on-premise and managed security services with new cloud-based services. This is a natural progression to meet high customer demand for a wide and flexible portfolio of cyber security solutions.

BAE Systems has signed an MoU with CyberSecurity Malaysia to establish a general framework for potential collaborations in the field of cyber security and is funding a post-graduate programme in Cyber Security at the National Defence University of Malaysia.

With 95 per cent of cyber attacks starting with an email message, the first set of cloud-based products that BAE Systems is introducing in Malaysia comprises BAE Systems’ Email Protection Services (EPS) which provides comprehensive protection against advanced threats. The offerings include:

Elitecore Technologies, a global provider of BSS and Packet Core solution, announces that a leading Tier 1 Operator in Malaysia has deployed Elitecore’s 3GPP compliant Online Charging System (OCS) for their voice and data services; the solution enables its subscribers to keep track of their account, services and usage in real time. It supports dynamic notifications to customers prior to reaching their credit thresholds and also supports admin action in real time on threshold breach. The solution enables real-time charging of VOIP calls over SIP interface for post-paid subscribers on FTTX network.

Elitecore’s real time OCS is a modular solution integrated with operator’s existing CRM and Billing systems, without having to go through a transformation of its existing billing system to support next generation services. The entire project was completed in just 3 months. The platform supports features such as single touch Point of Credit Governance for customer, Self Care service interaction in real time with accurate and timely information related to their usage, time/volume based rating, differential rating, advice of charges, shared balances, policy based discounting etc.

IBM and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) today jointly announced the launch of the IBM Smarter Commerce Centre of Competency (SCCOC) at IBM Connect 2015. In support of Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative, the SCCOC aims to drive innovative development of Commerce products and solutions, and transform the way businesses in Singapore and Asia-Pacific engage with their customers.

By leveraging real-time analytics and connecting the silos of procurement, marketing, selling and fulfilment, Commerce solutions focus on delivering personalised experiences to the customer. According to yStats, Asia-Pacific is one of the world's fastest-growing markets for e-commerce, which is forecasted to grow from $567.3 billion at a forecasted annual growth rate of 20 per cent between 2013 and 2018, owing to the large population base and high internet and mobile penetration rate in this part of the world.

Scientists at Queen’s University Belfast are developing a potential revolutionary new treatment for Sepsis and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), which are among the leading causes of death in hospitalised patients in the UK.

Currently, there are no effective treatments available for these life threatening syndromes.

The novel anti-inflammatory drug, SAN101, is being developed by a team of scientists and clinicians at the School of Pharmacy and the Centre for Infection and Immunity at Queen’s, alongside colleagues at Trinity College Dublin (TCD). It is the result of an initial discovery made over 6 years ago at Queen’s.

PR - Sep 1, 2015 - Chong Chye Neo named Managing Director, IBM Malaysia

IBM today announced the appointment of Ms Chong Chye Neo as Managing Director of IBM Malaysia, succeeding Mr Paul Moung, who retired on August 31.

The appointment is effective September 1 with Mr Moung staying till the end of the month to ensure a smooth handover and transition of the business to his successor.

Chye Neo brings to the role 26 years of extensive knowledge in intellectual property, sales and marketing having helmed diverse leadership roles across the IBM organization. Prior to her current appointment, Chye Neo served as Director, Strategic Projects responsible for refining strategy and overseeing the management of key client engagement campaigns in Malaysia. She also advocated intellectual property driven innovation among clients across ASEAN.
