PR - Apr 28, 2016 - Kaspersky Small Office Security Is the Leader in New AV-TEST Research under Windows 10

AV-TEST has evaluated 11 small business security solutions to find out, which provides the most effective security for Windows 10. According to the test results, Kaspersky Small Office Security took first place. The Kaspersky Lab solution excelled against the competition, gaining maximum scores in all three categories: protection, performance and usability.

The main objective of the test was to examine 11 different, Windows 10 compatible, corporate solutions. The tests covered three categories, with AV-TEST specialists evaluating protection, speed and usability. In all three categories, only Kaspersky Lab solution was awarded the maximum of 6 points; giving a total of 18 points overall.

The protection test took place in two stages. Firstly, protection against 0-day malware attacks, inclusive of web and e-mail threats was tested. Secondly, the solutions were tested in their ability to detect widespread and prevalent malware, discovered in the last 4 weeks by AV-TEST. To assess the performance of security solutions under Windows 10 the testers mimicked typical user behavior, launching popular websites, downloading and installing frequently-used applications, and copying of files both locally and in a network.

PR - Apr 28, 2016 - Dimension Data and Cisco Announce Project to Protect Rhino By Tracing People

South Africa-headquartered technology company, Dimension Data, and worldwide leader in networking, Cisco, today announced an initiative aimed at dramatically reducing the number of rhinos being poached in South Africa. The two companies have deployed some of the world’s most sophisticated technology in an unnamed private game reserve adjacent to the world-renowned Kruger National Park to monitor and track individuals from the time they enter the reserve gates, until they exit.

According to the South African Department of Environmental Affairs’ Report 2015, a staggering 1,215 rhinos were killed by poachers in 2014 alone. This equates to three rhinos being killed every day. If the rate of poaching continues, rhino deaths could overtake rhino births by 2018, and the rhino could be non-existent in South Africa by 2025.

Phase two of the Connected Conservation project will incorporate CCTV, drones with infrared cameras; thermal imaging, vehicle tracking sensors, as well as seismic sensors on a highly secure intelligent network. Dimension Data has also deployed Cisco’s Reserve Area Networks (RANs) which will be one of the first installations of its kind in the world.

PR - Apr 26, 2016 - Non-polarizing Beam Splitter

Classic 50:50 beam splitters change the polarization of the incoming light. Circularly-polarized laser radiation is divided into elliptically-polarized partial beams – corresponding to the different reflection values for p-polarization and s-polarization.

LASER COMPONENTS now offers beam splitters for CO2 lasers that maintain the polarization state of the laser beam for both the reflected and the transmitted partial beam: They are called "non-polarizing beam splitters."

The coating is applied to ZnSe "laser grade" substrates at high precision Rs,p [10.6 μm] = 50% ±1%. The coating consists of several layers, one of which is germanium; thus, the beam splitter is impenetrable for light in the visible range.

Non-polarizing beam splitters are suited for a laser power of <500 W/cm². Different standard components with a diameter of between 25.0 mm and 2" are available in stock and can be provided quickly for your tests.
