PR - Sep 23, 2016 - Biometric skimmers are here: Kaspersky Lab Examine Near-Future Threats to ATMs

Kaspersky Lab experts have investigated how cybercriminals could exploit new ATM authentication technologies planned by banks. While many financial organizations consider biometric-based solutions to be one of the most promising additions to current authentication methods, if not a complete replacement for them, cybercriminals see biometrics as a new opportunity to steal sensitive information.

According to a Kaspersky Lab investigation into underground cybercrime, there are already at least twelve sellers offering skimmers capable of stealing victims’ fingerprints. And at least three underground sellers are already researching devices that could illegally obtain data from palm vein and iris recognition systems.

The first wave of biometric skimmers was observed in “presale testing” in September 2015. Evidence collected by Kaspersky Lab researchers reveals that during the initial testing, developers discovered several bugs. However, the main problem was the use of GSM modules for biometric data transfer – they were too slow to transfer the large volume of data obtained. As a result, new versions of skimmers will use other, faster data transfer technologies.

PR - Sep 22, 2016 - MediaMath Partners MobileWalla to Help Marketers Expand Target Audience Segments

MediaMath today announced the introduction of AudiencePLUS (APAC), the region’s first mobile audience segment collection for digital marketers, on its TerminalOne platform. This is in partnership with Mobilewalla, the owner and operator of the largest consumer intelligence platform on mobile, and enables marketers to better identify and target individuals through 120+ audience segments with more than 600 million unique, targetable devices, in twelve countries throughout the region

With the mobile-first nature of consumers in APAC, MediaMath clients will now be able to target customers on their mobile devices based on multiple characteristics, such as demographics, behaviour, and location. As a result, marketers will now be able to plug AudiencePLUS segments into their marketing campaigns, and further establish a digital connection directly to the mobile devices of their target consumers, thereby extending possible business outcomes.

Rahul Vasudev, Managing Director, Asia Pacific at MediaMath

Rahul Vasudev, Managing Director, Asia Pacific at MediaMath, comments: “The profile of our clients in APAC has changed significantly in the past year, and we’re reaching a stage where we see the investment in mobile overtaking display and video. This does not come as a surprise, given the mobile-first nature of consumers in APAC. We’ve had a long history of introducing class-leading tools in the desktop world, and now we’re able to give our clients the ability to replicate the same on mobile devices. We are extremely excited to partner with Mobilewalla to further enhance the audience targeting capabilities within MediaMath’s TerminalOne platform. The AudiencePLUS data set now gives clients the ability to target consumers based on various characteristics, and will provide the end consumer with more relevant ads.”

PR - Sep 22, 2016 - Sophos Placed in the Leader’s Quadrant of Gartner’s 2016 Unified Threat Management Magic Quadrant for Fifth Consecutive Year

Sophos today announced that it has once again been positioned in the “Leaders” quadrant of Gartner, Inc.’s Aug. 30, 2016, "Magic Quadrant for Unified Threat Management.” The quadrant is based on an assessment on a company’s ability to execute and completeness of vision. Sophos is one of three vendors to be placed in the Leaders quadrant in this latest report, and the only IT security company to be positioned as a Leader by Gartner in three security Magic Quadrant reports: September 2015 Magic Quadrant for Mobile Data Protection Solutions, February 2016 Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms, and once again, the Magic Quadrant for Unified Threat Management (UTM).

According to Gartner, “the Leaders quadrant contains vendors at the forefront of making and selling UTM products that are built for midsize-business requirements. The requirements necessary for leadership include a wide range of models to cover midsize-business use cases, support for multiple features, and a management and reporting capability that's designed for ease of use. Vendors in this quadrant lead the market in offering new safeguarding features, and in enabling customers to deploy them inexpensively without significantly affecting the end-user experience or increasing staffing burdens. These vendors also have a good track record of avoiding vulnerabilities in their security products. Common characteristics include reliability, consistent throughput, and products that are intuitive to manage and administer.”
