1. Launch of First Asset Tracking Solution Fully Integrated into WLAN Infrastructure

PR - Jun 7, 2017 - Former Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria Appointed as Microlink Chairman

Microlink Solutions Berhad, a local ICT solutions provider specialising in financial solutions, today shares that YABhg Tun Arifin bin Zakaria has been appointed as Independent Non-Executive Chairman. The appointment is effective immediately.

Tun Arifin has a long and highly distinguished career in the legal sector, most recently holding the post of Chief Justice of Malaysia from 2011 to April 2017, when he retired from office.

Chia Yong Wei, Group Chief Executive Officer of Microlink, said, “We are greatly honoured to have the opportunity to welcome Tun Arifin onto our Board. His outstanding track record in the judiciary, exemplary integrity and insightful wisdom will add significant value to our strategic roadmap and the stature of the Microlink Group.”

YABhg Tun Arifin bin Zakaria
Graduating with LLB (Hons) from the University of Sheffield, UK in 1974 and LLM from the University of College, London in 1979, he was called to the English Bar at Lincoln’s Inn in 1979.

His distinguished legal career began when he joined the Malaysian Judicial and Legal Service, before being posted as Federal Counsel in the Advisory Division of the Attorney General’s Chambers and later as Magistrate, Session Court Judge and Senior Assistant Registrar.

He served in various capacities in the Government of Malaysia, both in the Justice Office and the Legal Department before being appointed as a Judicial Commissioner on 1 March 1992, and Judge of the High Court of Malaya in 1994.

Sage has reinforced its senior leadership team in the Asia region with the appointment of sales veteran, Robin Chao, as Vice President of Sage Software Asia.

In his new position, Chao will lead sales, business strategy development, personnel management, and scale business and sales performance for Sage in Asia. A key component of this strategy includes growing and managing Sage Software Asia’s vast partner ecosystem handling the entire portfolio of segments from startup & small businesses, and scale-ups to enterprises.

A 22-year veteran in the IT industry, Chao has experience covering sales in IT and outsourcing, product marketing, new market expansion, GTM build-up and partner development and management.

Chao was most recently Regional Sales Director for South Asia at Epicor Software Asia, where he spent close to a decade. Whilst there, he was responsible for ASEAN direct and indirect quota development, strategizing on GTM plans, partner enablement programs implementation, driving ASEAN market expansion, managing and guiding a team of regional country managers and building up both the business and partner community, resulting in growth for the business.

Prior to this, Chao held various leadership positions in sales at several IT organisations catering to SMEs and enterprises such as Powermatic Distribution and Singapore Computer Systems and understands business builders of today, having co-founded an online business in the past.

PR - Jun 6, 2017 - Kakitangan.com Launches Online Tools for SMEs to Manage Expense Claims and Human Resources Documents

Coastal Hectare Sdn. Bhd. through its brand of Kakitangan.com, today launched two new products that aim at further streamlining human resource (HR) work processes for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The first product launched today is Claims and Reimbursement System that allows submissions and approvals of employee expense claims and reimbursements to be done electronically. Meanwhile, the second product launched is Premium HRIS which is a new module that lets users easily upload and download HR-related electronic documents and for HR managers to keep track of changes in employee profile information. Both products are offered individually (ala carte) and also in cost-effective bundled packages with other products such as payroll.

Claims and Reimbursement System: With the new system, employees can submit their expense claims by logging on to Kakitangan.com using a web browser on a desktop or a mobile device. This new module makes it easier for employees with a smartphone to use their phone’s camera to take a photo of a receipt and then upload it to start a claim process. Manager will be notified via email whenever there is a new claim submitted, and, they can view the claim and approve it online even using their smartphone.

Premium HRIS: A new module to allow company HR to upload documents including HR policy, employee handbook and employee documents such as copies of identification cards and education certificates. In addition, the Premium HRIS module also provides company HR with an audit trail where they can identify any changes to employee data such as their profiles that could affect their “Potongan Cukai Bulanan” (PCB) and keep track of salary or title changes.

Kaspersky Lab today announced it has extended its partnership with Digital Paper Sdn Bhd, a leading and well-established IT product distributor in Malaysia, to maximise the company’s B2B routes to market in Malaysia. PR - Jun 5, 2017 - Connected Consumers Driving Smartphone Penetration in Malaysia

GfK’s Point of Sales tracking has recently found that Malaysian consumers are choosing bigger screen size smartphones, with over two-fifth (45%) of the 8.5 million units of mobile handset purchased in the last 12 months measuring over 5 inches. GfK findings reported that consumers bought around MYR 6.8 billion worth of smartphones, a significant increase from MYR 5.4 billion in 2015, with the biggest spike in sales contributed by mid-range models costing between MYR 900 to 1,050.



Chinese smartphone brands were the key drivers to the spike in demand for mobile devices last year, which registered the highest number of new smartphone brands entering the marketplace.

“With the recent nationwide expansion in mobile connectivity, consumers in the country are increasingly using their smartphones for activities such as mobile shopping, social media and general surfing of the internet,” observed Stanley Kee, Managing Director for Southeast Asia, GfK. “Shopping apps, especially, are also gaining popularity, paving the path for mobile payments. More consumers today are contributing to the growth of mobile commerce (m-commerce) in Malaysia, making payments through their mobile devices for retail items, airline tickets, and services such as Grab and Uber.”
