Siemens, a global technology powerhouse, is bringing the biennial Siemens Process Automation Conference & Exhibition (SPACe) to five countries in Southeast Asia this year.

SPACe is an enriching platform that focuses on automation, technology and challenges, as well as drives topics that are shaping Process Industries today. It gathers Siemens' community of users, partners and in-house experts to share and discuss ideas in the industry. Activities include presentation sessions, microfairs, industry workshops, networking sessions and more.

SPACe ASEAN Innovation Tour 2017 is themed “Driving the Digital Enterprise in Process Industries of Southeast Asia”, and will cover Vietnam, followed by Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia. PR - Jun 22 ,2017 - “Big Data with a Big Heart” – Tableau Foundation awards NVPC with grant to drive social impact with data

Tableau Software, working through Tableau Foundation, today announced that it has awarded its first grant in Singapore to the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC). The grant is valued at over USD81, 000 (approximately SGD112, 153) and consists of Tableau licenses and training services. Both NVPC and Tableau believe that data can have enormous value to non-profit organisations, enabling them to increase transparency and accountability, expand their relationships with funders, discover new trends in their programmes, and tell more powerful stories about their communities.

GfK - Jun 22, 2017 - Action cameras, flat panel TVs and wearables were the fastest-growing technology products in the past year

The consumer technology market in Asia Pacific (APAC) has grown tremendously over the past year, with the introduction of new technologies and advancements of existing technologies.

One innovative product that is gaining popularity in the market is the action camera. More brands (from 2 brands in 2015 to 13 brands in 2016) that offer 360-degree features have entered the market. In the last 12 months, emerging markets in APAC have been the key growth driver for such action cameras, registering 57% and 33% increase in sales volume and value respectively, while the region’s developed markets experienced a corresponding 9% and 40% growth last year.

Action cameras with 4K features are also selling well with sales accounting for 47% and 52% growth in volume and value respectively in APAC. Meanwhile, emerging markets in the region contributed up to 46% share of the pie in both volume and value terms.

PR - Jun 13, 2017 - Engineering Rookies Bring Home Silver at Robotics Competition in Brazil

Four mechanical engineering students from INTI International University (INTI) made Malaysia proud as they took home second place at the Laureate Award for Excellence in Robotics Engineering, held in Universidade Salvadore (UNIFACS), Brazil this year.

Following the competition theme Environmental Sustainability’, the four friends came together to develop a robot with built-in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to keep recreational parks clean by picking up and sorting out garbage for recycling.


Despite being only second year students from the mechanical engineering programme and having limited knowledge and experience in electronic circuits and coding, the four INTI students creatively picked up the necessary skills to learn the trade from fellow faculty members, friends and online videos via YouTube. Additionally, the team found out they were the only team of four mechanical engineering students, unlike other teams where students had an academic background in electrical, electronic or AI which gave them an extra edge in this competition.
