PR - Aug 25, 2017 - McAfee Announces Advanced Security for Amazon Web Services

The cloud has emerged to be one of the most impactful technologies of our time. It can help businesses unlock the potential to innovate and drive better business outcomes. However, it it not invulnerable. Gartner predicts that security threats will keep increasing, and spending on cloud-based security services will rise to US$9 billion by 2020.

McAfee, the world's largest, independent, pure-play cybersecurity company has recently announced that its McAfee Virtual Network Security Platform will secure Amazon Web Services. Some details of their partnership include:
  • Free trial to "test drive" the vNSP platform on AWS
  • Protection at the workload level, eliminates the single point of failure created by other solutions for a whole network segment and guarantees inter-segment traffic visibility
  • Ability for users to simulate real-world attack use cases, configure policy and review reporting dashboards
Features of McAfee's vNSP platform include:
  • Easily integrate security into their application deployment process by using automation frameworks
  • Network security controls are comprehensive and include inline exploit prevention,
  • Offer web application protection, zero-day malware detection
  • Workload isolation through segmentation and east-west attack detection

PR - Aug 23, 2017 - LinkedIn : More than half of Malaysia's workforce intends to stay with their current employer for more than a year

LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional online network, has released its annual Inside the Mind of Today's Candidate study, revealing that more than half of professionals in Malaysia are committed to their current employer. The study highlights that 58 percent of respondents state that opportunities for self-improvement are the main reason for them staying with the company for more than a year, followed by promotion opportunities at 39 percent, and a further 38 percent feel confident about their company’s future.

Interestingly, this signals that professionals in Malaysia are looking for fulfilment beyond conventional incentives, and focus more on opportunities instead, with only 27 percent citing that advanced company perks and office amenities were motivators.

PR - Aug 22, 2017 - MyIX Records Over 1200% Growth in Internet Traffic

Malaysia Internet Exchange (MyIX) or also known as ‘Persatuan Pengendali Internet Malaysia’ – an initiative under the Malaysian Communication Multimedia Commission ('MCMC'), today shared on the growth of Internet traffic peered within the national Internet Exchange over a period of five years – calculated from the first half of 2012 and 2017 respectively. According to statistics derived from MyIX, the average monthly highest peak point for data traversed per second within the MyIX exchange was 222.3Gbps, as compared to 16.4Gbps (based on the six-month average of January to June for 2012 and 2017 respectively).

“This shows over 1200 percent growth in a five-year period; that’s a very good indication of how massively the country’s Internet landscape has developed over the last few years.” MyIX Chairman, Chiew Kok Hin

PR - Aug 22, 2017 - More than 300 Students Participate in ICT Workshops at Huawei’s Customer Solution Innovation and Integration Experience Centre

As part of a collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Huawei today held a closing ceremony at its Customer Solution Innovation and Integration Experience Centre (CSIC) marking the company’s fulfilled promise of raising local ICT talents, accommodating over 300 students through organized industry workshops. Present during the ceremony were the final 40 workshop participants, coming from Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi MARA in East Malaysia.

At last year’s opening of the centre inaugurated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Huawei signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ministry of Higher Education to further drive and support ICT training and education. Appointed as an advisor for raising ICT education and talent, and Smart Campus, the agreement saw Huawei making the promise of selecting 300 local public universities and polytechnic students to provide them the opportunity to attend programmes and workshops held in the centre.

PR - Aug 22, 2017 - Facebook Releases Special Edition Sea Game Stickers

In celebration of this year's SEA Games, Facebook released a special sticker pack to help people cheer on their favorite athletes.

The special edition stickers show the official SEA Games 2017 mascot, “Rimau” in 16 sports-themed moods with local Malaysian expressions such as ‘cun lah’ (awesome) and ‘Bangkit Bersama’ (Rising Together), which is the theme of SEA Games 2017.



The official SEA Games mascot, “Rimau”, is inspired by the graceful and powerful Malayan Tiger. People can use the stickers for comments, photos and in Facebook Messenger.

PR - Aug 21, 2017 - EasyParcel.my Cyber Attack

EasyParcel.my was one of the Malaysian sites affected by the Indonesian cyber hacker groups attack, in protest against the Indonesian flag being printed upside down in the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Game booklet during the opening ceremony on Saturday, 19 August 2017.

Clarence Leong, Co-Founder and CEO of EasyParcel told that EasyParcel experienced minimal disruption.“We have taken immediate steps to contain the attack and protect our systems by placing our portal under maintenance mode. We have also executed other security measures and backups, all is in order. As at 2 a.m. on 22 August 2017, EasyParcel.my has been fully restored and returned online to normal operations.”
