Huawei Asia-Pacific Innovation Day 2017

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd, the leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider has chosen Malaysia to be the grounds for its annual Asia-Pacific Innovation Day, for the very first time. Huawei Asia-Pacific Innovation Day was attended by over 200 industry experts, scholars, scientists, and policymakers. The event was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and Mr Guo Ping, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Rotating CEO of Huawei. Summary of Huawei Asia-Pacific Innovation Day 2017 Release

1. Terengganu Partners with Huawei to drive ICT growth through its Digital Transformation Roadmap

In line with the nation’s digital transformation agenda, the State Government of Terengganu and Huawei Malaysia, a leading global information communications (ICT) solutions provider, exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to jointly design the State’s Digital Transformation Roadmap. The exchange ceremony took place at Huawei’s first Asia Pacific Innovation Day in Kuala Lumpur and was attended by Terengganu State Secretary, YB. Dato’ Wan Nawawi Bin Hj. Wan Ismail and Huawei Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer, Abraham Liu. It was witnessed by YB Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan, Second International Trade and Industry Minister, and Mr Guo Ping, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Rotating CEO, Huawei.



2. Huawei and CyberSecurity Malaysia cooperate to create a safer and more secure cyberspace for Malaysia’s digital future

Huawei and CyberSecurity Malaysia today exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding as part of efforts to promote and advance cyber security, protecting the nation’s cyber space in the face of digital transformation. The exchange was attended by Abraham Liu Kang, Huawei Malaysia CEO and Dato’ Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab, CyberSecurity Malaysia CEO; and was witnessed by YB Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan, Second International Trade and Industry Minister, and Mr Guo Ping, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Rotating CEO, Huawei in conjunction with Huawei Asia Pacific Innovation Day held for the first time in Kuala Lumpur.

3. SME Corp Malaysia Partners with Huawei to bring SMEs to the Forefront of a Digital Economy

At Huawei Asia Pacific Innovation Day, Huawei Technologies and SME Corp exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today in an effort to promote cooperation in areas of research, innovation and talent development for SMEs towards building the nation’s digital economy.

4. Huawei brings Smart Campus and Talent Development Initiatives to Sabah

Huawei Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today with the aim to establish the development of a Smart Campus initiative and industry driven programs. The exchange ceremony took place at Huawei’s Asia Pacific Innovation Day in Kuala Lumpur and was attended by UMS Vice Chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. D. Kamarudin D. Mudin and Huawei Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer, Abraham Liu and witnessed by YB Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan, Second International Trade and Industry Minister, and Mr Guo Ping, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Rotating CEO, Huawei.



5. Brookings Institution releases report ranking global cities on public safety innovation at Huawei Asia Pacific Innovation Day 2017

Brookings Institution has released a new report ranking global cities in terms of their public safety innovations at Huawei Asia Pacific Innovation Day 2017. The report examines the ways digital technology, mobile networks, and integrated solutions help authorities in 17 global cities manage public safety and law enforcement.
