PR - Mar 2, 2018 - Takaful Malaysia Launches “Click for Cover” Online Sales Portal

Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Berhad (Takaful Malaysia) officially launched an online sales portal called “Click for Cover” as a beginning of its venture into digital insurance. The ceremony was officiated by Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Finance Minister II, and marked the expansion of Takaful Malaysia’s digital footprint by providing a seamless customer experience when purchasing insurance products online.

Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani stated, “Today’s launch of Takaful Malaysia’s digital strategy is very much in line with the overall digital strategy outlined by the Government in growing the digital economy, and signifies our commitment towards revolutionizing the way we will grow our business by digitally transforming our sales and operations.”

The launch also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of agreement with Fusionex International, a market leader in data technology, analytics and AI and ReMark International, a digital marketing specialist company. Collaboration agreements for online distribution with Lembaga Tabung Haji (LTH) and Bank Islam (BIMB) were also signed to introduce online Takaful products to depositors of LTH and customers of BIMB.

The “Click for Cover” portal was designed with easy-to-use interfaces for customers to access the company’s products online with e-payment facilities and real-time underwriting capabilities. “Click for Cover” has the first fully integrated medical underwriting engine online in Malaysia where rating decisions will be generated online based on a few underwriting questionnaires.

Global cybersecurity company Kaspersky Lab has announced the appointment of Yeo Siang Tiong (姚祥忠) as its new General Manager for the Southeast Asia (SEA) region with strategic focus on Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. He joined the company on February 21, 2018.

As he takes up the leadership role over the company’s business in SEA, Yeo will be responsible for further implementing the company’s strategic business vision for the region’s SMB and enterprise markets and accelerating the growth of the Kaspersky Lab’s industrial cybersecurity solutions and services across various sectors in all of six SEA countries.

He will report directly to Stephan Neumeier, Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab Asia Pacific.

At his helm, Yeo led the coverage of strategic accounts in the financial and defense & homeland security sectors in Singapore. He also contributed to the Singapore Infocomm Development Authority’s 5th Infocomm Technology Roadmap. He holds an MBA in Finance from the Manchester University and an Electronics Engineering degree from the University of Singapore.

PR - Feb 26, 2018 - Sarawak State welcomes IBM Corporate Service Corps initiative as it will help in its Digital Journey

The Sarawak State Government is collaborating with IBM Corporate Service Corps to equip its selected government agencies with strategic know-how as it embarks on its digital transformation journey.

According to Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman Deen, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research Sarawak (MESTR) IBM will work with the Sarawak Skills Development Centre, Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Sarawak Biodiversity Centre and Kuching North City Hall to develop IT based solutions for these agencies in areas ranging from education, public safety and biodiversity.

At the Sarawak Skills Development Centre, the IBM CSC team will help develop a strategy and outreach for vocational training to nurture digital skills in young people. For PUSTAKA Sarawak, the CSC team will help the state library to improve and innovate on the delivery of its services in a digital world. The CSC team will make suggestions for the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre to adopt digital technologies to manage traditional biodiversity knowledge to support cutting-edge research and benefit indigenous communities from whom the knowledge originates. The IBM CSC team will also work with the Kuching North City Hall to develop a blueprint for employing digital innovation to improve public safety.

IBM CSC was created in 2008 to help solve some of the most challenging problems in communities around the world with the same expertise that the company provides to its commercial clients. In Malaysia, IBM has invested RM14 million in CSC engagements since 2009.
