Aug 17, 2018 - IKEA Online Store Ready to Serve Malaysians Nationwide

Swedish home furnishing retailer IKEA has officially launched the IKEA online store, marking its full-force foray into eCommerce in Malaysia. The new service brings to Malaysians the single largest online shopping platform dedicated for home furnishings.


Effective today, the IKEA online store extends delivery throughout the country. Customers can easily browse and order IKEA home furnishing products anytime and from anywhere at their convenience.

Prior to the official launch, IKEA Malaysia conducted a soft launch to carry out an end-to-end testing of the eCommerce system. Part of a customer-centric effort, the process has allowed IKEA to gather learnings, feedback and best practices that have been used as refinement in preparation for a seamless shopping experience throughout all touchpoints.

Aug 16, 2018 - TP-Link announces new Neffos P1 smartphone with built-in laser projector capable of displaying a 200-inch image

TP-Link has announced the latest and most exciting addition to its Neffos smartphone brand. The new and groundbreaking Neffos P1 boasts a built-in projector for viewing HD content on a wall with a screen size of up to 200 inches. The rest of the phone impresses as well.



To project content directly from the hardware, the P1 uses American military-grade micro-electro-mechanical system or MEMS laser technology and a three-color beam light to produce a clear and high-resolution picture on a flat wall or screen.

To produce the most vivid and detailed picture possible, with deep blacks and bright highlights, the Neffos P1 achieves a contrast ratio of 5,000:1, which is much higher than what a standard digital-light-processing or DLP projector is capable of producing. The typical DLP projector has a native contrast ratio of 400:1. The Neffos P1's superior contrast ratio allows for striking visuals in high definition.

The MoE infographic illustrates Malaysia’s top ecommerce platforms based on data such as online traffic, mobile app rankings (iOS & Google Play), social media followers & number of staff.



Here are the most interesting findings from our study:
  • Shopee (12.3 mil visitors) inched closer to Lazada’s (27.9 mil visitors) monthly traffic by 2/5 in Q2 2018. In Q1 2018, Shoppe’s was 1/5 to Lazada’s monthly average visitors.
  • Fashion Valet and CJ WOW SHOP entered the top five most visited Malaysian-based ecommerce platform in Q2 2018. Lelong remained as the most visited Malaysian-based ecommerce platform with 5.2mil visitors.
  • The top three most visited Malaysian based ecommerce platforms were Lelong (5.2 mil visitors), GoShop (818k visitors) and Hermo (758k visitors).
  • In the fashion, health & beauty category, Hermo, Fashion Valet, Poplook, Babydash and Naelofar Hijab are the five most visited Malaysian-based ecommerce platforms as of Q2 2018.

Aug 14, 2018 - Kaspersky : Over one third of all phishing attacks target financial sector customers in second quarter of 2018

In the second quarter of 2018, Kaspersky Lab’s anti-phishing technologies prevented over 107 million attempts to visit phishing pages, of which 35.7% were related to financial services and targeting customers through fake banking or payment pages. The IT sector was the second hardest hit, with 13.83 of attacks targeting tech companies, which is 12.28 percentage points more in comparison with the previous quarter, according to Kaspersky Lab’s ‘Spam and phishing in Q2 2018’ report.

Interestingly, there were almost 60,000 attempts to visit fraudulent web pages featuring popular crypto-currency wallets and exchanges, during the period from April to June. Total amount attributed to such attempts were $2,329,317, even without taking into account any revenues from classic phishing.

The main targets of phishing attacks have remained the same since the end of last year. They are primarily global Internet portals and the financial sector, including banks, payment services and online stores.

Kaspersky Lab advises users to always check the link address and the sender’s email before clicking anything.
