Dec 6, 2018 - Sarawak Shell Berhad Receives Gold Award For Best Practices In Lean Management From MITI.

Sarawak Shell Berhad (SSB) was recently awarded the prestigious Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) National Gold Certification for excellent practices in the area of Lean Management by the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) Malaysia. This is the first time such recognition has been accorded to an oil & gas company in Malaysia.

This certification is in recognition of SSB’s outstanding efforts for the continuous improvement in its lean management deployment journey which started in 2016.

Datuk Iain Lo, Country Chairman, Shell Malaysia commented on the award, explained that when the oil price dropped drastically towards the end of 2015, they knew they had to embrace an effective way of working to lean our processes, remove wastes and instil discipline in our cost management, to remain competitive

Sarawak Shell Berhad’s General Manager, Jill Chieng who represented Datuk Iain Lo, Country Chairman Shell Malaysia received the award from Y.B. Dr. Ong Kian Ming, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) Malaysia who was representing the Minister of International Trade and Industry Malaysia. Also in attendance to witness the award presentation were Tuan Hj Abdul Rahim Yusoff, the Deputy Director General of MPC and Khoo Choo Beng, the General Manager for Business Excellence, Sarawak Shell Berhad.

Dec 6, 2018 - Liege, Belgium - Government of Belgium and Alibaba Group to Jointly Promote Inclusive Global Trade under eWTP Initiative

The Federal Government of Belgium (“Government of Belgium”) and Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE: BABA; “Alibaba Group”) announced they have agreed to promote inclusive trade under the Electronic World Trade Platform (“eWTP”) initiative. Both parties will work closely to co-build a more inclusive and innovative trade platform that will facilitate greater and more equitable access to cross-border trade opportunities, in particular for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the eWTP was signed by Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Employment, Economy and Consumer Affairs Kris Peeters and Senior Director of Alibaba Group James Song. It was witnessed by Prime Minister of Belgium Charles Michel and Alibaba Group President of Global Business Angel Zhao.

The partnership with the Government of Belgium will be Alibaba’s initial effort to promote inclusive global trade in Europe, building on the success of similar eWTP partnerships in Asia and Africa over the past two years.

Belgium Prime Minister Charles Michel said this initiative serves to improve the competitiveness of Belgian and European firms on the global stage.

Dec 5, 2018 - Western Digital Delivers New Innovations to Drive Open Standard Interfaces and Risc-V Processor Development

Western Digital Corp. (NASDAQ: WDC) today announced at the RISC-V Summit three new open-source innovations designed to support Western Digital’s internal RISC-V development efforts and those of the growing RISC-V ecosystem.

In his keynote address, Western Digital’s Chief Technology Officer Martin Fink unveiled plans to release a new open source RISC-V core, an open standard initiative for cache coherent memory over a network and an open source RISC-V instruction set simulator.

Western Digital has taken an active role in helping to advance the RISC-V ecosystem, including multiple related strategic investments and partnerships, and demonstrated progress toward its stated goal of transitioning one billion of the company’s processor cores to the RISC-V architecture.

Dec 4, 2018 - Astro, Digi and Media Prima bring together quality education content with JomStudi

Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad (Astro), Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi), and Media Prima Berhad (Media Prima) have collaborated to introduce JomStudi, a digital learning hub that aggregates quality educational content to be made accessible to all students especially those in the underserved areas.

Launching in January 2019, JomStudi is an initiative led by the private sector and supported by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). Through JomStudi, students will have easy access, anytime, anywhere to quality education content that follows the syllabus format set by the Ministry of Education provided by Astro’s Tutor TV and Media Prima’s exam-based FullAMark. The platform is developed and managed by Digi.

JomStudi will be “self-learning oriented” with features that will help enhance a student’s learning experience such as:
  • Reward Badges: Students collect different badges as a reward for completing their assignments.

Dec 4, 2018 - Myriota launches on Spaceflight's SmallSat Express mission aboard Falcon 9 to aid the fight against Australia’s drought

Myriota is rolling out its next generation technology that will continue to grow direct-to-orbit communications for hundreds of millions of Internet of Things (IoT) devices thanks to today’s launch on SpaceQuest’s BRIO satellite.

Launched as part of Spaceflight’s SSO-A SmallSat Express mission, the satellite will be delivered to orbit on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket; adding to Myriota’s growing constellation by testing and demonstrating its IoT network.

Dec 3, 2018 - Carbon Black Delivers MITRE ATT&CK™ Coverage with Zero Delayed Detections & Zero Tainted Detections

Objective, transparent and open testing in cybersecurity is critical in driving the industry forward. As a result, MITRE issued its first-ever Adversarial Tactics, Techniques and Common Knowledge (ATT&CK) assessment, evaluated by testing vendors’ ability to quickly detect specific adversary tactics and techniques.
