Vodafone IoT Report 2019 Summary

Vodafone has launched its sixth Internet of Things Barometer which evaluates the global trends for IoT. In this year’s edition, Asia Pacific was highlighted as a leader in the adoption race, with 43% of companies already using IoT.

The Vodafone IoT Barometer Report 2019 features a new metric to assess strategy, integration and implementation of IoT deployments – the Vodafone IoT Sophistication Index. With this addition, the report found that despite its promising growth, Asia Pacific is lacking in maturity as most of the adopters are Beginners (Band D), who are just starting out on their adoption journey with a pilot or small-scale trial. This implies that despite their enthusiasm, companies in this region have further to go in developing their programmes and achieving all the possible benefits.

Report highlights for APAC:
  • After reviewing their progress in the last 12 months, 81% have stronger confidence in IoT technology and 83% have scaled their IoT projects. 82% of respondents agree that they are investing more in IoT.
  • 10% of respondents are running their entire business on IoT technologies.
  • 73% of respondents believe that their IoT projects are mission-critical. The same number of respondents believe that digital transformation is impossible without IoT.
  • Nearly all (95%) companies have experienced tangible returns/benefits from introducing IoT products and services.
1,758 businesses were surveyed worldwide and across sectors, including automotive, healthcare, financial services and transport and logistics.
