Feb 28, 2019 - Kaspersky Lab helps to secure bionic technologies for disabled people

Kaspersky Lab ICS CERT researchers, in partnership with Motorica, have undertaken a cybersecurity assessment of a test software solution for a digital prosthetic hand developed by the Russian start-up.

The findings were shared with the manufacturer Motorica, a Russian high-technology start-up that develops bionic upper limb prostheses to assist disabled people, enabling them to address the security issues.

The initial research identified several security issues. These include insecure http connection, incorrect account operations and insufficient input validation. When in use, the prosthetic hand transmits data to the cloud system. Due to the security gaps, an attacker could:
  • Gain access to information held in the cloud about all the connected accounts (including logins and passwords in plaintext for all the prosthetic devices and their administrators)
  • Manipulate, add or delete such information
  • Add or delete their own regular and privileged users (with administrator rights).

Feb 28, 2019 - Sophos: Futureproof in a Digital Age: Cybersecurity Matters

Recent study reveals that the probable economic damage in Malaysia due to cybersecurity attacks could reach up to four per cent of the nation’s total GDP growth of US$ 296 billion, that is approximately a staggering US$ 12.3 billion (RM 49.15 billion)[1]. As the fear for conspicuous cyberattacks, such as ransomware, continues to trigger alarms of precaution in both organisations and consumers alike, this has caused a digital transformation delay in not just Malaysia, but across companies in Asia Pacific as well.

Despite threats, attacks and risks continue to increase, conclusively the organisation challenges which may arise in 2019 aren’t insuperable. Understanding the mind of cybercriminals and how they play in the cyberspace is crucial, as it allows organisations to win an upper hand in the game.

Sophos, a global leader in network and endpoint security, urges companies to secure themselves with knowledge of the probable future threats and pacing back to comprehend big-picture trends that are driving each attack.

Neffos today added the new Neffos N105 and N150 features phones to its mobile portfolio. Despite the continued growth of smartphone sales worldwide, there is still a large number of consumers who use feature phones, such as the elderly and children whose parents are concerned about the adverse effects of smartphones on their development and well-being. Some prefer a simple life to one that is made more complicated by social media and round-the-clock access to the internet.

Boasting better signal reception, longer standby times, and a louder and clearer loudspeaker, the Neffos 105 and 150 handsets offers quality and reliability to give users the best experience when calling or messaging someone.

the Neffos N105 and N150 are equipped with a surge-protection device, which can help prevent the risk of damage from a power surge or overvoltage.
