Frame-Relay technology, a low cost WAN technology has two main modes.
1. Point-to-point
2. Multipoint
Point-to-point:
Meant for connecting different routers from different subnets via a central frame-relay cloud.
Multipoint:
Meant for connecting routers within the same subnet via a central frame-relay cloud.
However, having said that point-to-point serves to connect routers from different subnets, it actually implies to higher accuracy that point-to-point mode is meant for connecting groups of routers in different subnets; where each group is a different subnet by itself.
