Juniper Networks and IBM Pursue Shared Vision of IT Transformation

With ongoing buzz around super data centers, cloud computing, and virtualization. it’s hard to talk about these innovations without highlighting the critical role the network plays in delivering on the promise of each of these advancements in computing. Today, IBM announced an update to its Dynamic Infrastructure of which Juniper is a critical participant delivering shared vision, technology innovation and a robust product portfolio; and Juniper Networks announced a continued broadening of its relationship with IBM.

The two companies have been working together on joint technology solutions, standards development, network management and managed security services since 2007. IBM has included Juniper Networks switching, routing and security products into their data center network portfolio with IBM playing an invaluable role of systems integrator. Most recently, the two companies jointly collaborated on a global technology demonstration highlighting how enterprises can seamlessly extend their private data center clouds. IBM and Juniper are installing advanced networking capabilities into IBM’s nine worldwide Cloud Labs for customer engagements, to be able to seamlessly move client computing workloads between private and publicly managed cloud environments.

The two companies have also been working together on the Stratus Project, Juniper’s initiative to create a single data center fabric that will deliver a quantum jump in scale, performance and simplicity, with the flexibility to support fully converged and virtualized data center environments. The companies are jointly researching cloud computing security models to highlight how customers can mitigate attacks on corporate data and computer systems.
