Juniper Networks Announces General Availability of EX 8216 Ethernet Switch, Purpose-Built for High–Performance Cloud Computing Environments
Juniper Networks announced the availability of the EX8216 Ethernet switch, a 16-slot high-performance platform with switch fabric capacity of up to 12.4 terabits optimized for today's high-density 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) data center and cloud computing environments.
The EX8216 switch is a member of the EX8200 line of modular switches, purpose-built to deliver the wire-rate performance, low latency and carrier-class reliability that enable businesses to consolidate network layers and reduce capital and operational expenses across the infrastructure. The EX8200 line, which also includes the eight-slot EX8208, delivers an industry-leading combination of port density, power efficiency and scalability that cloud computing environments require to support next-generation Web 2.0 applications.
The EX Series along with many Juniper routers and its security services gateways run on JUNOS Software, which delivers unmatched carrier-class reliability and operational simplicity. A study conducted by Forrester Consulting, Inc. (NASDAQ: FORR) in February 2009 reported that companies that use JUNOS achieved a 41 percent reduction in overall network operations costs across specific tasks such as planning, deploying and provisioning of resources.
