Google Maps was created by Lars_Rasmussen, who is now working for Facebook.
In 2003, Lars and his brother, together with two more persons, took about 1 year to create the software which is Google Map today before it was bought over by Google (in October 2004).
Google Map for Malaysia's maps was only available since December 2007 and probably a year earlier for Singapore.
