The PIKOM WCG 2012 KLCC

The PIKOM WCG (World Cyber Games) 2012 is currently being held from 7 to 9 September 2012 at KLCC, Malaysia.

The National ICT Month (NIM) is a joint initiative between PIKOM and Ministry of Science, Technology and innovation (MOSTI). This is the fourth consecutive NIM to date.

The NIM is a month-long event, officiated by Guest of Honor, YBhg Dato' Dr. Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad, Deputy Secretary General (Policy), MOSTI.


The events for NIM 2012 are

  1. PIKOM WCG 2012 (7-9 Sep 2012) 
  2. Digital Lifestyle Expo 2012 (7-9 Sep 2012)
  3. Leadership Summit 2012 (27 - 28 September 2012)

The Leadership Summit is to facilitate dialogue between leaders from the industry where PIKOM's flagship research report on ICT industry in Malaysia (ICT Strategic Review 2012/2012) will also be launched.

Two championship will be held during this cyber games festival, one for Malaysian-only and one for Asian. 600 Malaysian gamers are expected to participate and challenge themselves to win the national championship titles. This is also the first time that the Asian Championship is being held in Malaysia.

For National Championship, seven games titles will be featured.

  1. FIFA12 (individual players),
  2. DOTA2 (a tema of 5 players),
  3. Counter Strike-Online (a team of 5 players), 
  4. World of Tanks (a team of 7 players), 
  5. StarCraft2 (invidual players), 
  6. Tekken 6 (individual players), and 
  7. Counter Strike Global Offensive (a team of 5 players).

Winners of Malaysian national championship will go on to the grand final in Kunshan, China (29th November to 2nd December) representing Malaysia at Asia Level.

President of PIKOM, Shaifubahrim Mohd Saleh said that digital lifestyle expo is different from PC Fair, with the latter being more sales-oriented while the former focuses ideas, trends and exploration.

The exposition features a few key consumer IT technologies target especially for gaming. These devices are the samsung Notebook Series 7 Gamer, Samsung S22B560H Series 5 LED Monitor, Razer BlackWidow Ultimate keyboard, WD VelociRaptor, Gooler Master K Series Mid-Tower Chasis, Gigabyte C1.Sniper 3 motherboard, Intel processor, Kingston HyperX Genesis and Kingston HyperX Blu memory modules.

PIKOM serves as the industry's premier association, providing supports and organising events to help businesses for both SMBs and enterprises to better reach out to customers locally and globally. Malaysia's official CIO is MDec while MOSTI serves as the premier R & D institution of science and technology (including IT).
