Malaysia, 10 June 2013 - Regional data centre space provider, CSF Group plc was recently awarded Uptime Institute’s Tier III Design Certification for CSF Computer Exchange 5 (CX5) facility. The CX5 facility, built and managed by CSF, is the largest data centre in Malaysia and only the third in Southeast Asia to receive this prestigious certification. CSF Group plc was also recently awarded the 2013 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Data Centre Service Provider of the Year due to its strong ability to offer customisable data centre space, high utilisation rate of its facilities and the many green data centre initiatives it has taken.

Ir Wan Murdani Wan Mohamad, Head of Digital Enablement Division, MDeC says, "The certification of CSF’s facility complements well with the aspiration of the Government to enhance the capability of local data centre service providers. As such, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), which is mandated to develop the data centre industry in Malaysia under the Economic Transformation Program (ETP), provided the necessary support to CSF in attaining the Uptime Tier III certification".

Mr Yong added that CSF would continue to partner with MDeC to help push for greater levels of excellence in Malaysia’s data centre industry as well as to help drive the country closer to its goal of being a regional data centre hub by 2020.

The CSF group recognised the need for certification and worked together closely with the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), specifically the Entry Point Project 3 (EPP3) team in order to obtain the Tier III certification. Having achieved certification means that the CX5 facility was designed in accordance with industry best practices and would provide an availability of close to 99.98%; providing customers with superior levels of business continuity.

The EPP3 is an initiative implemented by the Malaysian Government under the Economic Transformation Program (ETP). It aims to increase data centre space in the country and establish Malaysia as the preferred locale for data centre investors. Through the local data centre industry, MDeC aims to add RM2.1 billion (US$696 million) towards the country’s Gross National Income by 2020. Today, CSF manages more than 1,000,000 square feet of data centre space under its operations across South East Asia.
