Kuala Lumpur, 21 August 2013 – PIKOM ‘Mother of all Digital Fairs’ is poised to take off

The country’s largest ICT event composing Digital Lifestyle Expo (DLE), GoMobile Expo and PC Fair is poised to take off this coming weekend, 23-25 August 2013 at the KL Convention Centre. At the same time, the exposition will see Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) showcasing a series of technologies on digital lifestyle for the first time under its Digital Lifestyle Malaysia programme.

Apart from the usual discounts and bargains, in support of the green initiative, PIKOM this time will be organising a “Adopt-A-Tree” campaign as part of the association’s Corporate Social Responsibility project for 2013. Under this green campaign, all waste materials found at the convention hall during the fair will be collected and sent for recycling. Profit gained from this exercise will be spent on replanting trees in Klang Valley at a later date to be confirmed by the association. Visitors to PIKOM PC fair are thus encouraged to register themselves to be eligible to the Adopt-A-Tree campaign. Groupon Malaysia recently released a survey to understand the e-commerce popularity in the country. This survey was conducted via online channels from amongst the company’s subscriber base in Malaysia. Through this survey, Groupon Malaysia discovered the growing e-commerce trends especially during the Hari Raya festivities.

According to a study conducted by Nielsen in 2011, Malaysia’s online commerce sector had grown to a value of RM 1.97 billion (US$ 654 million) in transactions, a growth of 9% compared to 2010, demonstrating the potential for significant growth in the years to come.

This feature will be rolled out to U.S., English-speaking users on desktop, tablet and smartphone, with voice search over the next few days as reported in the blog.

Aug 5, 2013 - Cisco : Majority of Aspiring Executives See a Big Future for Video in the Workplace

A global study announced today by Cisco revealed that the majority of these next-generation executives intend to depend heavily upon business-class video to connect with their teams, colleagues, suppliers, customers and prospects, as well as to help their businesses deliver new products and services.

Top findings include:
  • Three out of five young executives say they will rely more heavily on business-class video during the next five to 10 years.
  • 87 percent believe video has a significant and positive impact on an organization, citing benefits ranging from enhancing the experience of telecommuters to saving money on travel costs and even attracting top talent.
  • 94 percent of those organizations with less than 400 employees value video as a way to break down language barriers in the increasingly global marketplace.
  • 87 percent say they would choose to work for a video-enabled organization over a company that has not invested in business-class video communications, because the video-enabled organization "cares about using technology to fuel business growth."
