MDEC Introduces e-Bantuan Banjir (eBB) Platform

Information gathered from PR firm.

The e-Bantuan Banjir (eBB) Platform, an integrated mobile-enabled system that incorporates Open Data and Social Media which overlays on Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data Analytics (BDA), as well as crowdsourced funding and volunteer platforms for individuals and corporations to donate resources.

The public can access the eBB platform via www.togetherwithu.my and via a free mobile app with the same name currently available on Android, and iOS.

Under the eBB initiative, MDeC is working with key technology partners such as Xtrategize, Sicion Sdn. Bhd., Aerodyne Geospatial Sdn Bhd and PitchIn.my to:
  • Provide live feeds of flooded areas – locations of relief centres, hospitals etc. and monitor social media conversations on the situation;
  • Deploy drones to provide live feeds and multiple photos of flood situations – stitched together using Big Data Analytics to identify terrain problems;
  • Volunteering platform, eSukarelawan - www.esukarelawan.org and mobile application, built to capture and match volunteers from the MSC Malaysia and Digital Malaysia communities to the respective NGOs for post-flood rebuilding tasks. The mobile app allows volunteers to communicate on the ground happenings to a central online community tagboard;
  • Crowdsource funds from the MSC community and the tech community at large in order to rebuild the lives of those affected by the floods.
