MyIX MyNOG Conference 2017

Malaysia Internet Exchange (MyIX) or also known as ‘Persatuan Pengendali Internet Malaysia’ – today announces that the MyIX MyNOG Conference 2017 will be held on the 26 October 2017 at Connexion@Nexus Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur .

MyIX is calling for both local and foreign registrants to participate and take advantage of a top, pinnacle event for an industry-level discussion and presentation of Internet technologies in the country.

The Malaysia Network Operators Group (MyNOG) is an initiative to bring together network operators in Malaysia, to drive greater industry push for the Internet’s technology evolution.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Internet Exchange (MyIX) is a non-profit organisation under the MCMC that promotes peering of local Internet Service Providers (ISPs), content providers and foreign peers, for more efficient and cost-effective Internet service for Malaysians.

MyIX Chairman, Chiew Kok Hin says, “MyIX looks forward to a successful joint conference with MyNOG, as our way of leading the nation’s efforts to stay at the leading edge of Internet developments – which is especially crucial now as the country’s economic health becomes more dependent on the support of a mature and stable Internet infrastructure.”

He shares that so far, MyNOG has been excellent in providing a platform to facilitate and encourage peering and business relationships among local Internet Service Providers, in order that synergistic learning and sharing can happen to accelerate the maturity of Malaysia’s Internet scene.

The MyIX MyNOG Conference 2017 programme consists of three parts, these being the Peering Forum, Tutorials, and Conference Tracks. The topics of this event cover the following discussions:
  • The impact of data center traffic on the Internet network, and implications to the broader communications equipment market.
  • Cyber Security Threats Landscape & Incidence in 2017, following industry leadership advisory on strategic actions that need to be taken to address the problem; as well as Arbor Networks report on 2016 DDoS attacks events.
  • How Serverless Compute, Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are driving up adoption of 400G and 800G Ethernet, especially as service providers and new cloud operator race to adopt the latest technology to keep up with the bandwidth demand for their business growth.
  • Sharing of the technology behind Google Espresso SDN Controller, which leverage Egress Peering Engineer technology – covering the Traffic Engineering optimization, how to achieve cheaper peering solutions, etc.
  • How to protect critical infrastructure with Autonomous Network Management, in the face of more and more sophisticated attacks that require companies to ramp up the resilience of their corporate and operational networks.
  • The journey of how the world’s largest social network – Facebook, arrived at its current scale
  • The future of the Internet - in a paper on the cutting edge Blockchain technology, on storing data publicly in trustless system.
  • As well as the latest updates from APNIC, which is Asia Pacific’s main and central Internet registry that serves 56 economies throughout Asia and Oceania.
