Jun 14, 2018 - 5G: The Roadmap to Launch in Asia - ConnecTechAsia

The recent PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games was billed as the most technologically advanced Olympics yet, with 4K live streaming, immersive VR/MR broadcasting, internet connectivity in remote a village – all enabled by 5G.

5G is seen as an enabler for a smarter and more connected world, with its ultra-low latency, high reliability, and ability to carry massive amounts of data at speeds that are 1,000 times faster than 4G. Its applications are already forecasted – real-time, low latency mobile gaming, new forms of content delivery for consumers, enabler of smart cities and massive use of IoT devices, and much more.

By 2022, there will be as many as 280 million 5G subscriptions in Asia Pacific, with 5G service revenue reaching US$4.5 billion, according to Frost & Sullivan.

However, despite its potential to revolutionize society and cities, hurdles exist for its implementation, even as Asia gears up to roll out 5G.

Jun 13, 2018 - Hong Kong - Workday Asia Pacific Survey Shows Most Hong Kong Workers Believe their Job at Risk

Results of a new IDC survey across Asia Pacific to assess employees' attitudes and readiness for the digital economy commissioned by Workday, Inc. (NYSE: WDAY), a leader in enterprise application for finance and human resources, revealed that Hong Kong workers are among the region’s unhappiest, with 23% of them saying they are unhappy.

81% of employees surveyed in Hong Kong are open to switching jobs with the right opportunity and 25% of respondents are planning to leave their employer within a year. Major push factors are about compensation (22%), work/life balance (14%) and lack of career prospects in the face of digitalization (13%).

55% percent of respondents in Hong Kong feel managers and employers are not proactively engaging employees, while 30% of them said they are also not getting trained/ upskilled for the digital economy and 52% believe it is the employers’ responsibility.

Jun 11, 2018 - Circle International Signs Agreement to Become Malaysia’s 1st Lakala Payment Merchant

Circle International Holdings Limited (Australia NSX Stock Code: CCH) today announced its strategic partnership with payment gateway giant, Lakala – a move that will allow Circle International to facilitate cross border payments between Malaysia and China. In 2016, cross border transactions involving China within the eCommerce space was valued at USD$1 trillion (RMB6.34trillion).
