Jun 13, 2019 - SG - GIC and Polymer Connected establish partnership to develop data centre campus in Jakarta
GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, and Polymer Connected, an eminent data centre provider, have established a partnership to develop a data centre campus in Jakarta.
Polymer Connected plans a pan Asia hyperscale data center network with expansion beyond Indonesia into additional cities in Southeast Asia, such as the Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia.
The company’s leadership team has built or refurbished 47 data center projects for industry sectors including Telecom, Banking, Government and Data Center Providers and in the Asia Pacific.
Darren Hawkins, CEO, Polymer Connected stated that, "With a population of 575 million, 350 million internet users and 390 million active mobile users, Southeast Asia’s digital economy is forecasted to triple to USD240bn by 2025."
Jun 12, 2019 - P.J - Shell Fueling Hopes for Kidney Patience
In conjunction with the festive season, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Bhd. has kick-started its Syawal charity campaign, ‘Anda Pam, Kami Derma’ to support the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF).
For every litre of petrol pumped at Shell stations in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan on weekends starting from 15 June 2019, 315 Shell retailers will channel 1 sen (RM0.01) to NKF’s fund towards supporting underprivileged dialysis patients, as well as purchasing new dialysis machines for NKF’s dialysis centres.
“Every year, NKF needs to raise RM24.9 million to subsidise the dialysis treatments cost for 1,600 who seek dialysis treatment at our 28 dialysis centres nationwide. In Malaysia, 7,000 new patients are diagnosed with kidney failure annually. The majority of NKF’s patients are financially-challenged elderly individuals aged between 50-65 years old who cannot afford the higher cost at private medical facilities,” said Chua Hong Wee, Chief Executive Officer of NKF.
