Jul 23, 2019 - CAMBRIDGE, MA - IBM Study Shows Data Breach Costs on the Rise; Financial Impact Felt for Years

IBM Security today announced the results of its annual study examining the financial impact of data breaches on organizations.

According to the report, the cost of a data breach has risen 12% over the past 5 years Comparison of the average global cost of a data breach from the 2014 Cost of as Data Breach Report to the 2019 report. and now costs $3.92 million on average. These rising expenses are representative of the multiyear financial impact of breaches, increased regulation and the complex process of resolving criminal attacks. The financial consequences of a data breach can be particularly acute for small and midsize businesses. In the study, companies with less than 500 employees suffered losses of more than $2.5 million on average – a potentially crippling amount for small businesses, which typically earn $50 million or less in annual revenue.

Jul 23, 2019 - Seberang Perak - FELCRA Pioneers Drone and Robotics Technology for Smart Agriculture Model

MATA Aerotech has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FELCRA Berhad, at the Paddy Seed Centre FELCRA Seberang Perak. The ceremony was witnessed by Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Minister of Economic Affairs.

The MoU documents were exchanged between FELCRA Berhad Chief Executive Officer Mohd Nazrul Izam bin Mansor and MATA Aerotech Chief Executive Office Wan Azrain Adnan. Also present was FELCRA Chairman Datuk Mohamad Nageeb bin Ahmad Abdul Wahab.

This Memorandum of Understanding outlines a collaboration to integrate technology into smart agriculture model, in line with the government’s aspiration to advance into Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0). The MoU reinforces FELCRA’s commitment to increase its organisational achievements as well as to improve the quality of life of more than 100,000 FELCRA settlers.

MATA Aerotech is a premier organisation specialising in drone and robotics technology, a joint venture between Malaysian and Taiwanese companies, namely Nexus Union, SWS Capital Berhad and GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology Inc.

Overall, the implementation of this MoU will give direct positive impact to FELCRA. Data analysis provided by the drone technology will help improve plantation management by acquiring latest information from the plantations. The use of drone technology will improve crop performance by accurately and quickly mapping plantations as well as assessing crop health and quality. Targeted spraying of fertilisers and pesticides can be done to reduce exposure of pesticides to plantation workers and the environment.

Jul 23, 2019 - SG - Melissa Di Donato Appointed CEO of SUSE

SUSE announced the appointment of Melissa Di Donato as Chief Executive Officer, effective 5 August 2019. Based in the UK, Di Donato will focus on SUSE’s commercial success and innovation in its core business as well as in emerging technologies, both organically and through add-on acquisitions. Her appointment signals the next phase of growth and momentum for the world’s largest independent open source software company.

Prior to SUSE, Di Donato was Chief Operating Officer and Chief Revenue Officer at SAP where she was responsible for the worldwide revenue, profit and customer satisfaction of the company’s digital core solutions. She also held senior executive positions at Salesforce and was recognized for her contributions to growing global organizations by winning the 2018 Digital Masters Award for Excellence in Commercial Management.

"SUSE is at the cusp of a historic shift as open source software is now a critical part of any thriving enterprise’s core business strategy," said Ms.Di Donato on her appointment.

Jul 22, 2019 - Microsoft and ASEAN Foundation partner with the Ministry of Education to launch Future Ready ASEAN platform for Malaysian Youth

In an effort to further STEM literacy in Malaysia and in line with the nationwide STEM4ALL initiative launched in March 2019 with the Education Performance and Delivery Unit (PADU), the Ministry of Education partnered with Microsoft (Malaysia) and the ASEAN Foundation to launch the Future Ready ASEAN platform.



The platform will serve as a resource centre, providing educators and students with tools and learning materials to cultivate the necessary digital skills in order to thrive in the 4th Industrial Revolution.

A digital skills training initiative was also kickstarted in conjunction with World Youth Skills day, involving nearly 40 educators in a two day ‘Train the Trainer’ workshop in Microsoft’s office in Kuala Lumpur.
