Windows XP Blue Screen: Try Changing Video Adapters

Have you ever been locked down to a situation where your Windows (Microsoft) suddenly flashes you with a blue screen that tells "Try changing the video adapters"?

It could look like this...

Yeah, the video card is probably spoiled.

If you want to double confirm... restart in 'Safe Mode'..

Notice that it will stop at the video card driver, which is 'agp440.sys' for this case.

The truth is ...

  1. The video card is probably spoiled or damaged, you have to replace it.
  2. Windows is DEFINITELY corrupted as a side-effect too, you would need to reinstall again. You may not want to replace the video card immediately, but you have to reinstall Windows, either to another partition or to existing partition.
  3. Repairing Windows could work, but may inherit problems.

The second time starting Windows with The "normal" option, it runs just normal, but from time to time there are little Graphikbugs,...
but I've got another problem, evertime I boot with any USB-device on it, the notebook is shutting down for two or three times, before even reaching the "starting windows" screen,...
