Kuala Lumpur, Friday (June 28, 2013) – PIKOM, the National ICT Association of Malaysia launches its 2013 ICT Job Market Outlook today. Following the earlier Job Market study series, PIKOM again collaborated with KPMG and Jobstreet.com on the 2012 job market analysis. The report gives an overall study on the job market in Malaysia comparing to the region by focusing on the state of ICT Jobs, in particular the salary component.

Key highlights in this report include an increase of 8.7% in average salary over 2011, the top paying jobs and industries and three featured articles. The report again confirms that ICT industry remains in the top five paying industries in Malaysia.

“Despite the challenging economic state and uncertainty in the political scene last year, there is still an upward growth in the average salary for ICT professionals, be it junior or senior level. We expect this positive growth to continue for the remainder of 2013 with a projected increase of 8.9%,” said Woon Tai Hai, PIKOM Chairman.

The overall average salary of ICT professional increased from RM 6,240 in 2011 to RM 6,782 in 2012, a rise of 8.7%. Average entry-level salary for fresh graduates continues to grow from RM 2,238 to RM2, 343, albeit only a marginal increase of 4.7%. “Although there has been improvement on the average salary, the supply of ICT fresh graduates continues to decline. At the same time, enabling the employability of our fresh graduates is still an ongoing discussion and debate,” added Woon.

Symantec Issues Global SMB IT Confidence Index

KL, Malaysia – June 19, 2013 – Symantec Corp. today released its 2013 Global SMB IT Confidence Index, which found that SMBs with higher IT Confidence scores are more successful in leveraging IT to drive their business, and ultimately experience stronger, better business outcomes.

“In Malaysia, the survey shows how the attitudes about IT of SMB founders have a positive correlation between protecting their information assets and achieving their business goals,” said Alex Ong, country director of Symantec Malaysia. “If small businesses want to maximise their success, they need to embrace IT as a strategic tool with the potential to deliver a competitive advantage and really drive their business.”

Koh Ee Laine, senior technical consultant of Symantec Malaysia, added, “It is also interesting to note from the survey that the typical top-tier SMB spends seven percent less on computing than bottom-tier organisations, which may be due to their commitment to invest in the right technology from the beginning and having the future growth of the company in mind. There are significant advantages in a forward thinking attitude towards computing when it is embraced for strategic purposes rather than being treated as simply a necessary evil.”

Symantec surveyed nearly 2,500 SMBs across the globe to determine their attitude toward IT, including 101 organisations in Malaysia. Their responses were utilised to develop an “SMB IT Confidence Index,” a measure of how confident they are in using IT to address strategic business goals. Three tiers of companies emerged, with the contrast between the top tier and bottom tier forming the basis of the survey’s key takeaways.

Local Tyre Company Reinvents Tyre Management for Fleet Operators

Kuala Lumpur, 13th June 2013 – In conjunction with the Malaysian International Bus, Trucks and Components Exhibition (MIBTC) 2013, leading local tyre company, Kit Loong Commercial Tyre (KLCT) Group has today officially unveiled its innovative KL Sigma Formula approach to tyre management.

The “cpk --> Sum = sc3" TM formula represents the core substance of professional tyre management solutions. It addresses the sum total of five Sigma elements, namely tyre and its related products, services and maintenance, 24/7 outdoor rescue service and network, scientific knowledge and overall management, in order to deliver the "sc3" benefits of safety, competitiveness, cost effectiveness and control, which are all important factors to measure effective CPK (cost per kilometre).

KLCT’s Managing Director, Kenneth Teh said “There is often a narrow focus on the product cost perspective and a lack of coherent prescription to address the challenges of effective tyre management. The biggest threat to your data centre? The people within it

06 June 2013 – Singapore – Human error poses the biggest internal threat to business continuity as the data centre industry refuses to wake up to change, according to intelligent PDU provider Enlogic. The firm conducted its latest survey of industry professionals and analysis shows that more than a third of people viewed human error as the most likely cause of downtime. Equipment failure and the external threat of power outages were second and third in the top responses.

Unintentionally adjusting the temperature from Fahrenheit to Celsius; accidentally pulling power cords from an IT asset; or inadvertently overloading a circuit by accidentally plugging in a server are just a few ways in which data centre workers can cause a crash.

Unplanned downtime can lead to financial loss as well as reputational damage to businesses. A natural response is to implement a redundancy plan which requires investment into additional equipment that remains idle until it might be needed. This approach increases upfront purchase costs and escalates energy bills by sending power to idle servers; Enlogic urges companies to reconsider using this method.

Juniper Announces Only Security Solution to Deliver Intelligence-Based Analytics for Data Centers

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – June 7, 2013 – Juniper Networks, the industry leader in network innovation, today announced the availability of Junos® DDoS Secure to protect data centers against increasingly complex Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. A key part of Juniper’s security portfolio, Junos DDoS Secure uses behavioral analytics and detailed network visibility to provide scalable protection against all major types of DDoS attacks.

For enterprises and service providers with a major online presence, the potential loss of productivity and customers due to a network outage from an attack can be catastrophic to business operations. Along with traditional high-volume attacks that leverage massive amounts of traffic to overwhelm a data center, businesses now face targeted low-bandwidth attacks on data-heavy applications that go undetected by traditional DDoS mitigation solutions.

Preventing application-level or “low-and-slow” attacks requires security professionals have granular visibility and control of network traffic once it enters the data center versus simply the ability to block DDoS traffic at the edge of the network. Juniper Networks® Junos DDoS Secure offers this visibility providing customers with fully automated DDoS protection against “low-and-slow” application attacks with minimal false positives, as well as up to 10 Gbps of mitigation against volumetric attacks.

Shanghai joins Tata Comms' global Telepresence network via Partnerships

New York & Mumbai, June 4th 2013 - Tata Communications today announced the addition of a state-of-the-art “virtual meeting” Telepresence suite to its global network, situated in the heart of downtown Shanghai. Launched in partnership with China Mobile and JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai, the new in-hotel facility located within the 5* luxury JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Tomorrow Square, provides participants a life-sized, high definition and immersive virtual collaboration experience.

Business communications has seen an incredible transformation over the last 10-15 years. Whilst video conferencing’s reputation may have suffered a bit of a bumpy start in the early days due to quality, usability and accessibility issues, thanks to advancements in communication infrastructure, hardware and reach, the use of video in business is booming. In fact, according to Infonetics Research, sales of enterprise telepresence and video conferencing equipment will maintain steady growth through to 2017 at a compound annual rate of six per cent.

Organisations looking to improve business communications for employees, partners and customers worldwide require business video that is reliable, high in quality, affordable and offers broad reach. To encourage pick-up at the individual user level, accessibility and ease of use are some of the key factors when business executives choose a particular communications method.

To make true seamless business communications possible, Tata Communications does not only operate the world’s only fibre optic sub-sea network ring around the world that effectively supports the explosion in video network traffic, it is also working with leading industry partners, including AT&T, Telstra and Etisalat as part of the Global Meeting Alliance to broaden its ecosystem and provide customers access to high-quality video communications wherever they are. Today, Tata Communications runs one of the broadest and widest-reaching Telepresence networks available in the form of its Global Meeting Exchange™ Telepresence inter-exchange. As part of this, Tata Communications offers access to public Telepresence rooms in over 40 locations across five continents, with the JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Tomorrow Square having very recently joined the network.

GoDaddy Edit Mailbox Advanced

For GoDaddy's users only.

The intention is to perform email forwarding - to forward a copy of email from GoDaddy mailbox (webmail) to other email addresses (i.e Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail).

First of all, it cannot be done by just login into the webmail, it can only be done by login to GoDaddy's Account Manager - login from GoDaddy's homepage.

The official method is described here or here.

The issue which confused me was that I couldn't find the 'Advanced' tab as described - in fact, there is no 'Advanced' tab, so don't go about looking for it.

One should instead lookout for 'Send copy to:' option under 'Email' tab.
