Red Hat Mobile Application Platform Simplifies Deployment of Client-Server Mobile Application

The Red Hat Mobile Application Platform is a unique development platform, somewhat similar to latest version of Microsoft Visual Studio which supports cloud development and deployment to Azure ecosystem; this platform prides itself at offering of a complete suite of mobile application development platform which includes client server communication framework known as the MBaaS (Mobile Backend as a Service) Platform.

To understand MBaaS in laymen term - imagine Whatsapp - what is visible to consumers are the front-end features, nonetheless, what is cool or state-of-the-art is the fact that the programming of the Whatsapp platform has allowed 600 million active users to communicate with each other without fail.

What this means is that to program the mobile app is not really something impossible, any good programmer with experience and a great sense of usability would be able to nail it; however, the ability to program a server platform which services 600 million active connections without fail is nothing short of a phenomenon.

And this is what MBaaS hopes to help developers with : to provide a cloud-based, built-in security and performance guaranteed server platform which will host mobile apps.

EnGenius Wireless ESR600 Home Router (Review)

Check out EnGenius Wireless ESR600 Home Router.

It is a dual band (2.4 GHz and 5 Ghz) with each band supports up to 300 MBps and it comes with 4 Gigabit Ethernet Ports router.

The good thing of dual band is the ability to setup two wireless networks (SSID).

Having two SSIDs means you can configure different settings and priorities for each of them. Whilst it doesn't really help with fail-over, it helps with load balancing the network.

The router also comes with a 64 MB RAM, whereby it reduces the frequent needs to restart the router after a long operating period.

Besides that, the Malaysian version of the router supports connection to TM Unifi modem directly, via simple setup steps:

Shedding Light on Dark Data by CommVault Systems

I read this article by Mark Bentkower, CISSP, Director of Systems Engineering ASEAN, CommVault Systems, discusses the challenges organizations are facing today and provides best practices for companies to address their unstructured data challenges.

It tells the significance of dark data, which is essentially data trapped beneath stone unturned - data stored somewhere but not able to be discovered and hence wasted - forever, period.

Mark BentKower

To deal with dark data, Mark BentKower has these to advise:
  • Control the growth of data.
  • Capture data at the point of entry to in order to ID it (data) better.
  • Deliver Self Service Access - allow users to judge the value of data before the boss thinks otherwise.
  • Automate the Data Lifecycle - auto removal of unwanted or junk data
  • Assure Compliance and Discovery - the best way to minimize the cost of these queries is to be proactive with comprehensive archive, search and eDiscovery capabilities.

Jack Ma : Alibaba Allowed Users to Make Money Before He did

Jack Ma interviewed by Charlie Rose.

First break was when he discovered that China was not on the Internet.

Did project for government without charges.

If everybody agrees with your idea, you no have chance, someone else would have done it already.

Doubted initially that it would survive for first 5 years - for first 3 years, made zero revenue.

If you continue to work hard, there is going to be possibilities.

Volume game - tiny transaction and advertising fees generated out of large volume of transaction result in huge revenue for Alibaba - i.e currently having more than 10 millions advertisement publishers.

When you have 1 billion dollar, that is not your money, it is the money entrusted to you to do good for the society, world and humanity.

One day he hopes to go back to teach.

What is CollabNet Teamforge ALM ?

According to the white paper (Thriving in an Era of Disruption and Disconnected Development), Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) is a bigger platform which will integrate the processes of multiple and isolated application development environments.

Key to the findings is that waterfall methodology is still needed to maintain core platforms of businesses for mission-critical applications, i.e banking core.

Secondly, development environment (tools and SOP) optimized for one project may not work best for others.

Therefore, in lieu to the growing challenges of maintaining application portfolios which scale according to trends and business needs, enterprise inevitably have to adopt a development environment which supports the ideals of hybrid, distributed and multi-source.

And this is what CollabNet Teamforge is all about - a managed open ALM platform for enterprise.

Its core features are: common platform, collaboration and governance

It promises the benefits of: standards and integration, cross-boundary system debug, reuse and sharing of IP.

The key point is that it caters for integration between agile and waterfall development environments.

You can compare CollabNet Teamforge to Microsoft Team Foundation Server, alternatively, you may also consider Microsoft Team Foundation Server as one component sits on top of Collabnet Teamforge.
