ICT is Key in Reviving Global Trade

During the Asia-Pacific Digital Innovation Summit (APDIS 2009) held in Melbourne, Australia on December 14 – 17, WITSA Chairman Dato’ Dan E. Khoo pointed out that ICT is an essential tool to revitalize cross-border trade and revive the world economy in the wake of the recession caused by the financial crisis of 2008.

Information and communications technology (ICT) is an enabler of growth and development for all industries that together contribute an estimated US$19.5 trillion in global trade this year. Although ICT constitutes only about 20% of merchandized and services exports, its impact on economic growth far exceeds its share of total global trade. As a horizontal tool, ICT is an enabler of growth and development for all other industries that collectively contribute to the other 80% of global trade.

ICON : A New Grant For Entrepreneurs

As a follow-up of announcement of Budget 2010, we have ICON (The Integrated Content Development Programme). It is the brainchild of existing prime minister of Malaysia.

This adds to existing grant options for enterprenuers.
  • Cradle
  • MDeC' Preseed
  • MCMC Content Grant
  • MOSTI's grant
The vision of ICON:

The Integrated Content Development Taskforce (ICON) is intended to help generate wealth for Malaysians through the K-economy by developing sustainable ideas and businesses that would have a long-term positive impact on the social strata of the nation such as creating business ecosystem, employment and a better standard of living.

Types of Grants:
  • ICONapps - Get funds for creating cool applications for the mobile and online social networking platforms
  • ICONedu - Get funds for creating and hosting educational related contents.
  • ICONity - Get funds for creating locally oriented social contents.
  • ICONex - Get fund for hosting any other content.

The main idea is analogous to the fact that we should encourage Malaysian to earn USD by leveraging on the Internet while residing in Malaysia to benefit from the so-called low cost of living.

I think it is also a good idea to explore which is to reduce the demand for international content since the Internet is still slow while at the same time, push up the demand for local contents to fill up the demand's gaps.

Transfer Picture from Client to Server (VB6)

This sample code in VB6 demonstrates sending picture or image file from a client to server software via Winsock using TCP.

Initially I thought it was easy. I was wrong.

The challenges are:
  • Maximum packet size using socket is 8191 bytes, thus if the picture/image is more than, the image will be transferred via socket in multiple packets.
  • In VB6, I have discovered that array variable can only be passed as by reference (byRef) parameter. Since there is no way to pass an array byVal and there is no way to perform thread-concurrency on the process of winsock.GetData(), the best practice is to use 'variant' to fetch binary data which comes in multiple packets instead of using byte array.
It seems 'variant' implements thread-concurrency.

If you attempt to use byte array to fetch the binary data, the end result image file would be corrupted. This will be explored in the next blog.

Juniper Networks Multiservice Edge, Core and Carrier Ethernet Routers Awarded Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) 21 Certification

Juniper Networks®, the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that its M Series Multiservice Edge Routers, T Series Core Routers and MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers have been awarded certification to Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) 21 Standards by Iometrix, the MEF-authorized independent certification testing laboratory.

The MEF's Carrier Ethernet Certification Program is designed to ensure that global infrastructure equipment and services comply with MEF standards and accelerate the worldwide adoption of interoperability. MEF 21 certifications focus on Link Operations Administration and Maintenance (Link OAM) mechanisms which enable real-time discovery, monitoring, fault management and performance management of the network. As the MEF provides a single, globally-recognized test and certification process, the equipment certified to MEF 21 will help reduce OPEX significantly by eliminating testing, service costs and charges for providers. By certifying its compliance with these specifications, Juniper's routing platforms have demonstrated that they establish a solid foundation for interoperability.

Remote Desktop Not Working ?

Yes, indeed it is annoying.

First of all, refer to the following two references.
Here is what I did to solve my problem (in Windows Server 2003), in steps.
  1. Make sure you can ping the server
  2. Make sure the default TCP/IP port (3389) is up and running. To do this the easiest way is to make use of telnet utility. Refer to here.
  3. Make sure the firewall is off or not blocking the port
  4. Make sure 'Terminal Services' is running
  5. Make sure Remote Desktop is enabled
  6. Optional - Administrator is granted administrator access.

For my case, the port 3389 is not listening while other checklists are fine.

So, the only few things left to troubleshoot are Windows registry.

Refer to

The registry key for remote desktop is

And indeed it was missing from the server.

So, I just need to recreate the registry key.

But the registry key is not just one or two values, it has a lot of settings. So, the best way is to import from another server of the same type.

And it works!

Therefore, the best way is to import the registry key from another similar computer which remote desktop is working fine.

Download the Windows Registry(Windows Server 2003) for above mentioned issue.

Can PING but Cannot Connect ?

You can PING the IP, but you can't connect to it via TCP/IP on specific port.

In many cases, it is because TCP/IP on that specific port connection timeout.

How to prove it ?

An easy way is to use Telnet utility.

Juniper Networks and O’Reilly Media Release New Book on Green Networking

Juniper Networks and O’Reilly Media have released a book on green networking. ‘The Sustainable Network: The Accidental Answer for a Troubled Planet’, a special project of Juniper's corporate green initiatives, features the products and services of the entire ICT industry - from routers to mobile phones, from computers to data centres – and is said to be for anyone who uses a laptop, or has a Facebook page or uses their iPhone to stay connected.

Written by sustainability consultant Sarah Sorensen, the book talks about why the network as the foundation of global communications infrastructure is the best sustainable technology available to help tackle a wide range of problems - from energy conservation to economic and social innovation - with its future depending on the continued penetration of broadband, as well as industry innovation.

Sorensen neither advocates one networking industry vendor over another, nor recommends one networking implementation over another, but urges individuals, governments, markets and organisations to put the power of global networking to good use as a tool for sustainable action with the potential to: reduce global CO2 emissions by 15% by 2020 by replacing physical tools with virtual ones (McKinsey), to let individuals participate in global markets, and to give people a platform to bring like minds together and mobilise them to assemble support for social causes and to better influence and shape public discourse and policy.
Publishers O'Reilly Media are chroniclers of cutting-edge development, homing in on technology trends that really matter and spurring their adoption by amplifying "faint signals" from alpha geeks who are creating the future. An active participant in the technology community, the company has a long history of advocacy, meme-making, and evangelism. The Sustainable Network: The Accidental Answer for a Troubled Planet’ is available at : http://catalog/9780596157043/ and from the Safari Books Online service at : and via

Product Marketing - There Is A Pattern

1. Advertisement, Marketing & Promotion

Advertisement is good for two or three reasons:
  1. Let people know your brand
  2. Help people to make decision
  3. Upgrade your brand value
After you have done advertisement, what must you do ?

2. Reference Site

You can create reference site most effectively using web site.

Why, because people would like to find out more about your product, who is the inventor and etc.

This is very very important.

For those companies which the web traffics are little, it is because your advertisement, marketing and promotion is not effectively carried out.

3. Leisure & More Activities

How to create more life to your product ?

I have a few suggestions:

  • Create Videos for YouTube
  • Make Some Noise in Facebook
  • Create A Blog For the Product

Do u reckon that this is a best practise ?

Software Engineering Team Management #1

LCROSS Engineering Readiness TestImage by kqedquest via Flickr
Inspired by The Way I Worked : Jason Fried (

What I like best is the facts:
  • One investor.
  • A staff of 16
  • More than three million customers...
Sounds like a good reference for benchmark of how many staffs you need.. ya ? I just want to share some of my philosophies for software engineering team.

The Basic:
  • Must have a leader.
  • Must make use of collaboration tool.
  • Must share the codes and best practices.
  • Do not waste time researching things which there are already best practices, just learn it. Instead, research other things which the team not yet know.
Follow The Practice of Medical Fields

A leader must be a practitioner and also a teacher. The idea is that we must keep learning.

Must Always Create Excitement in the Team; everyday.

Do not ever demotivate the team.

The Boss Must Not Think that The Job is So Easy

It is very wrong to think that you can always get sample codes out in the web.

Must Anticipate Problems

A software company must anticipate problems, there will be problems, don't ever pull the panic button.

At Least Two Developers (for a project)
  1. Backends
  2. Features / Front-End
Backends will always be revised.
  • New technology
  • New platform / libraries
  • New techniques
  • To cater new features.
Therefore, whenever changes are made to the backend, features and front-end will nee to be changed as well. Challenges:
  • You always need to make sure existing version is working while creating a new version.
  • Support customers.

Juniper Networks Showcases Breakthrough Performance Capabilities for its Junos® Trio Chipset with Test from EANTC

Juniper’s new MX 3D routers can download 8.5 million iTunes in one tenth of a second, 50 Blu-Ray DVDs in less than five seconds, 10 years of Hubble Telescope data in one minute or more than 430,000 HDTV channels simultaneously. They can increase ROI over five years by up to 540 percent[i]; reduce operating expenses for aggregation services up to 47 percent[ii]; reduce operating expenses for business services up to 63 percent[iii]; reduce operating expenses for residential services up to 77 percent[iv]; and improve power efficiency by a factor of 10-to-1 versus other vendors[v].

The European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC) has completed a commissioned performance verification of the Juniper Networks® MX80 3D Universal Edge Router and new 16 port 10GbE aggregation line card, validating the ground-breaking performance of the company's 3D Scaling technology using the Junos Trio chipset. 3D Scaling technology helps networks scale dynamically to support more bandwidth, subscribers and services – all at the same time.

The EANTC tests confirmed the MX480 3D Universal Edge Router’s unidirectional throughput of up to 1.4Tbit/s, 240Gbits/s per slot – which is able to exceed one billion packets per second, in a compact sixth of a rack configuration: establishing new boundaries for high-performance networking. Services scale displayed 6,000 active Layer 3 VPNs and 6,000 active VPLS instances, as well as a leading 25.34 watts per 10GbE port in full configuration.

The new line cards and routers process two to four times more traffic than the competition – up to 2.6 terabits per second – while using half as much power per gigabit.[vi] For subscribers, this means the flagship MX960 system with 3D Scaling enables fast access to download 8.5 million iTunes in one tenth of a second, 50 Blu-Ray DVDs in less than five seconds, 10 years of Hubble Telescope data in one minute or more than 430,000 HDTV channels simultaneously[vii].

Junos Trio represents Juniper's fourth generation of purpose-built silicon, and is the industry's first "network instruction set" – a new silicon architecture unlike traditional application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and network processing units (NPUs). The new architecture leverages customized network instructions that are designed into silicon to maximize performance and functionality, while working closely with Junos software to ensure programmability of network resources.

EANTC conducts vendor-neutral performance testing for Carrier Ethernet, IP/MPLS, and Triple Play technologies and applications for network equipment manufacturers, service providers and enterprise customers.

Juniper's MX Series 3D products are available starting December 2009. The MX Series 3D 16-port 10GbE aggregation line card will be generally available to customers in December 2009, with additional MX Series 3D products coming throughout 2010.

MySQLImage via Wikipedia

Download this article about 'MYSQL™ PROVIDES SCALABILITY,
RELIABILITY, ENTERPRISE SUPPORT AT A LOWER COST', which in my opinion, it doesn't sell much ideas.

If you are talking about cost, it is really about Oracle.

MS SQL is not that expensive. And for people who have high requirements, they will go for Oracle. In another words, if you have money, you can afford SAP already.

The article should focus on technical aspect and usability for database administrators, developers and architects.

Most of the techies are familiar with one database platform, and MySQL should focus on helping these people to migrate over the the newer platform. The availability of brand new GUI and tools since acquisition by SUN microsystem is a good step. But actually, many people don't have time to explore new things anyway. This is why Microsoft can keep up with the sales. This is another aspect of zero downtime, which is there is not time to explore new things.

Ok, the point quoted by the following paragraph is good.

MySQL is proven in the field as a database server that can run anything from deeply
embedded applications with a footprint of just +3-4MB to massive data warehouses
holding terabytes of information. It also can be configured with a variety of
high-availability capabilities such as high-speed master/slave replication and
specialized cluster servers with instant failover. This level of flexibility to attain optimum scalability and availability for a particular set of needs is a hallmark of the open approach to database technology that underlies MySQL.

It tells that MySQL is scalable and reliable.

It should try to provide an apple to apple comparison with other databases which MySQL can do better.

And also need to have a channel for knowledge sharing.

MySQL should focus on making techies fall in love with it.

Sales Order System In Malaysia ?

If you need a sales order system to automate your sales department or sales process, what do you really need to do ?

I have to admit that about 10 years ago, everybody will resort to customized software. Means you will hire software vendors, spell out your requirements and get the ball rolling.. Then you have to go through testing stage, user acceptance test and etc.

But for now, I would say that you can probably get an accounting system suite, that will do the job for you. This is because, a typical accounting suite will have the following modules.
  • Sales Module
  • Stock Module
  • Payment Module
A typical sales module will have things like...
  • Quotation
  • Sales Order
  • Delivery Order
  • Invoice
  • Cash Sale
  • Debit Note
  • Credit Note
  • Cancel Sales Order
  • Delivery Return
I guess that is all that you need.

If you need customization, get those software suites which can cater for customization. One software suite which I know of is AutoCount Accounting.

The more famous brand is UBS-Software by SAGE. But UBS is not known to be able to be customized heavily.

The other one I can think of is SQL Account.

Still thinking of customizing another software ? I don't really recommend that if you are SME.

Google Wave

Disruptive WaveImage by curiouslee via Flickr
Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation
and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

It is part of the Google's I/O (Input Output) development project.

It comes with development APIs which cater for:
  • Extensions: Build robot extensions to automate common tasks or build gadget extensions to provide a new way for users to interact
  • Embed: Make your site more collaborative by dropping in a Wave

Extensions are like templates, which means that you can do customization on top of Google Wave.

Embed is where you can embed a 'Wave' into your web application, similar to Google Map.

So pretty cool stuff.

Google Wave ScreenshotImage by marketingfacts via Flickr
Evangelists preach that Google Wave is most likely helpful in terms of:
  • Organizing events
  • Group projects
  • Photo sharing
  • Meeting notes
  • Brainstorming
  • Interactive games

Very nice. This will more likely phase out smaller software vendors providing solutions for calendar and scheduling, collaborations tools, interactive classroom and etc. But we are not sure yet.

However, the good thing is that finally someone big and bold enough is able to integrate these isolated applications together.

If you are developer or product entrepreneur, you may want to look at the Google Wave Federation Protocol.

What this is telling us is that Google has (over and over again), invented an entirely new architecture and this time it is targeting communication and collaboration.

The protocol which is open-source is similar to things like TCP/IP, FTP, ModBus and etc. This is self explanatory.

But more importantly, I am more interested to know how the Federation protocol can be used as part of firmware for peer-to-peer (fully mesh) communicating hardware devices.

This is what Intel's RCP is trying to achieve. The road may seem longer that expected.

Test Your Code's Performance Using FxCop (Microsoft Platform)

This only applies to Microsoft Visual Studio development environment.

Download FxCop version 1.36.

Install it and create a project and then point to your assembly or exe files. Let it run it you will get reports like these.

This is good for programmers who wanted to know what are the benchmarks for performance and design. You can also find out a lot about coding standards and best practices by having a run on FxCop for your assemblies and exes.

For instance.. The followings are design rules and performances rules dictated as standards from FxCop.

Design Rules
  • Abstract types should not have constructors
  • Assemblies should have valid strong names
  • Avoid empty interfaces
  • Avoid excessive parameters on generic types
  • Avoid namespaces with few types
  • Avoid out parameters
  • Collections should implement generic interface
  • Consider passing base types as parameters
  • Declare event handlers correctly
  • Declare types in namespaces
  • Default parameters should not be used
  • Defnite accessors for attribute arguments
  • Do not catch general exception types
  • Do not declare protected members in sealed types
  • Do not declare static members on generic types
  • Do not declare virtual members in sealed types
  • Do not declare visible instance fields
  • Do not expose generic lists
  • Do not hide base class methods
Performance Rules
  • Avoid excessive locals
  • Avoid uncalled private code
  • Avoid uninstantiated internal classes
  • Avoid unnecessary string creation
  • Avoid unsealed attributes
  • Avoid unused private fields
  • Dispose methods should cal SuppressFinalize
  • Do not call properties that clone values in loops
  • Do not cast unnecessarily
  • Do not concatenate strings inside loops
  • Do not initialize unnecessarily
  • Initialize reference type static fields inline
  • Mark members as static
  • Override equals and operator equals on value types
  • Prefer jagged arrays over multidimensional
  • Properties should not return arrays.

VB.NET Listview ContextSwitchDeadlock Was Detected

Refer to previous post on VB.NET Listview Slow.

If you happen to get this error ('ContextSwitchDeadlock Was Detected') while displaying items to a ListView component.

'Message: The CLR has been unable to transition from COM context 0x5228fe8 to COM context 0x5229158 for 60 seconds. The thread that owns the destination context/apartment is most likely either doing a non pumping wait or processing a very long running operation without pumping Windows messages. This situation generally has a negative performance impact and may even lead to the application becoming non responsive or memory usage accumulating continually over time. To avoid this problem, all single threaded apartment (STA) threads should use pumping wait primitives (such as CoWaitForMultipleHandles? ) and routinely pump messages during long running operations.'

This is caused by a process such as 'lv.Items.AddRange(lvItems)' is taking too long to finish and thus the process timeout. It doesn't happen all the time, but if your CPU utilization is high, very high possibility you will get this error.

Refer to the sample code (VB.NET Visual Studio 2008 SP1), you can see that in Form8 and Form9, the delay in displaying items is caused by codes in the 'ListView.ItemChecked' event; which may or may not bring about 'ContextSwitchDeadlock Was Detected' error. The reason is that 'ItemChecked' event is being called every time a ListViewItem is added to the ListView.

The solution is to dynamically add and remove handler to 'ListView.ItemChecked'. Refer to Form10.

3D Album Tips

3D Album's Picture Pro

  1. The older version of 3D album (Picture Pro v3.1) is not working fine in Vista.
  2. The source file is the photo folder. The photo strip is the index file for the photo sequence that you have arranged. (You don't have to delete it, but if you do, it will regenerated but you have to rearrange the photo again)
  3. You can only save the build show (As application). If you need to export to movie, have to use the capture feature.
  4. Combine multiple slide show using sequencer. (Put each different show into a folder. then copy these different folders into another main folder. at the mixer screen, set the main folder as 'Mix Path'.
  5. Since you can't combine 1 song for a different clips using the mixer, the only way is to combine all dating clips into one. You can still direct the background images properly (by properly put the background images according related to the foreground images through repetitive pattern - duplication)).
  6. MPEG means VCD, MPEG2 means SVCD
  7. PAL --> Malaysia / British format. NTSC --> American/British format.
  8. Choose either 'DVD PAL' or 'DVD NTSC' as the movie type for the best quality. The output will be a .mpg file. Use VLC Player to play it (usually Windows Media Player doesn't come with the built-in codec). But if you are using Nero Express to create a DVD disc, the input file format required is .vob.

Nero 9 (which Nero Vision is a component) can do the job. If the DVD output (disc) having problem displaying the animation properly, then capture the movie as DVD NTSC and then use Nero Vision to burn it as SVCD. This should be the best trade-off option.

  9. If you are not professional, copy all photos to a folder first, and then slowly delete away those which you don't like. This works better than if you selectively decide which one should be shortlisted. Do you get what I mean ? In other ways, deletion technique works better than selection technique.
  10. A typical 4 minutes song requires about 40 pictures with 20 milisecond of interval.

VB.Net Listview Slow

If you load item in VB.Net using the VB6 methods, loading 1000 items or more may require some inconvenient time.

Here is the solution.

First of all, refer to this site first.

Then download this sample code (Visual Studio 2008 SP1)

And then you may also want to check this out.

But the sample code will solve your problem.

Coming up next, if you experience the following..

'ContextSwitchDeadlock was detected'

Message: The CLR has been unable to transition from COM context 0x5228fe8 to COM context 0x5229158 for 60 seconds. The thread that owns the destination context/apartment is most likely either doing a non pumping wait or processing a very long running operation without pumping Windows messages. To avoid this problem, all single threaded apartment (STA) threads should use pumping wait primitives (such as CoWaitForMultipleHandles? ) and routinely pump messages during long running operations.

How to Uninstall Windows Live Mail from Vista

Make no mistake, Windows Live Mail is a fine software, a great component of 'Windows Live'.

But if you have decided just to use 'Windows Live Messenger' while keeping other components far away, you may want to uninstall it.

And the reason I ever thought about uninstalling it was because I am a 'Windows Mail' user, and have been using it for a long time. And after upgraded to the latest 'Windows Live' suite, I accidentally click 'Windows Live Mail' shortcut and launched the program. Without asking for permission, it automatically imported all emails from 'Windows Mail'. It was a great import and all dependencies can be resolved without user interaction, except that the process duplicated my emails and caused my hard disk consumption to surge to tipping point.

I had no choice but to either delete all the imported emails from 'Windows Live Mail' or uninstall it. The first option worked, it didn't delete away all emails from the 'Windows Mail' domain either.

But after you have deleted the imported email from Windows Live Mail, your hard disk space will still be loaded. You should perform 'disk cleanup' to flush away the deleted files from your system.

It worked.

So, do you still want to uninstall 'Windows Live Mail', if so..
  1. Control Panel\Programs and Features
  2. Select 'Windows Live Essential' (You will not find Windows Live Mail).

  3. Click 'Uninstall/Change'

  4. Select 'Windows Live Mail', click 'Continue'.

  5. Done

What is VSTO ?

VSTO (Visual Studio Tools for Office) means that you are using Visual Studio to develop application using COM objects for MS Office (known as PIA).

Check out the official site.

What is the confusion ?

Due to VBA (Visual Basic for Application). Most of us are familiar with the term VBA, because most of us are familiar with MS Office and Macro.

How different from VBA ?

It is different in a sense that in the context of VSTO, you can find extended functions, methods and properties for the COM objects.

These extensions are known as aggregates.

Why the big fuss then ?

Because COM objects are COM and not part of the .NET framework.

To start with, get a good eBook and download sample code (VB.NET Visual Studio 2008 SP1)

Adobe Flash Platform Services Unveiled

With the growth of social media, advertisers and publishers are looking for more predictability and effectiveness in reaching audiences via social media.

While there are many benefits to using sharable, social applications to connect with customers; however, it can be difficult to get users to install the applications.

Advertisers, publishers and game developers use distribution methods that don’t support all popular destinations and can be difficult to maintain. Many times, simply posting applications in an app store is the mobile distribution strategy. Rarely is an overall distribution strategy unified across the Web and mobile, making comprehensive analytics difficult to obtain.

Adobe Systems has announced the availability of a new service that enables advertisers and content publishers to promote, measure and monetize applications across social networks, desktops and mobile devices: Adobe® Flash® Platform Services for Distribution,

Adobe Flash Platform Services are online, hosted services that allow developers to add innovative capabilities to Web applications with a predictable, cost efficient deployment model. Developers, advertisers and publishers are now using Adobe Flash Platform Services to make Web applications sharable, social, and collaborative.

An example of the distribution service in action, is The WSJ Radio Network – which provides audio business news reports and programs to more than 370 radio stations across the country and reaches more than 22 million listeners per week.

They will provide network affiliates with new business news Web tools for use on their own sites as well as for individual use. The new widget will offer content from WSJ Radio and, including podcasts, live audio business news updates from The Wall Street Journal Report and The Dow Jones Money Report, as well as updated headlines and video, and will be available for users to view and share via social networking sites and blogs.

Surviving the Corporate World While Drifting On The Web

When you are a startup, you should sell cheap for two reasons:
  1. Product is new
  2. Your cost is still low. This will kill away the bigger players with a lot of resources but requirements for high profit margins.
Basically, at this point of time, your competitors are those big companies with a lot of resources. Thus, if the problem that you are trying to solve is a solid one, then they are interested. Sell to corporate is a good idea. Try to just sell to a few big corporates so that you don't have to worry about support so much, as well as liaison. But the problem with corporate sales is that it depends on trends, because corporate sales is dependent on budget. This is so oblivious from the case of Apple iphone, Google free software and etc. They are all trying to build a brand into the corporate world, which Microsoft is still pretty much a monopoly. Same thing goes to Sun Microsystem, who has been working hard to create trends for the following areas:
  • Open source
  • ZFS
  • Identity Management
  • Cloud Computing

You have to create a trend and the only faster way is through the web.

However, about the web, there is an equally tasking challenge, which is to have "the need for speed". See, as we mentioned, for corporate sales, there is a culture. The big guys will set the trend, and corporate will slowly adopt it, it will all spawn from the USA. The new tech adoption rate in Malaysia is about 5 years behind, this is actually a good thing for local vendors; you got time to plan for it.

For the web, everybody levels across the world. If Americans are using the latest Windows Live Messenger, Malaysians are too.

This is the game which Google is gamed at and is better at compared to Microsoft.

Apple Special Event Sep 09 (Music)

This came quite late, the reason is that the streaming that I had have always been subjected to interruptions.

It is always interesting to take note of Apple's special events to see where they are up to and how they keep the industry, consumers and technology.

Check out the link while still available.

  • 30 Million iphone sold Sep 2009.
  • Driven by apps store (1 year old)
  • 75,000 apps.
  • User have downloaded 1.8 billion apps have been downloaded since.
  • iPhone software 3.1
  • 100 million accounts

iTunes 9
  1. Genius mixes
  2. Improved Syncing
  3. Home sharing
  4. Redesign store
  5. iTunes LP

  1. 73.8% market share.
  2. >50% of customers are new customers
  3. 20 millions of iPod touches have been sold.

why ?
  1. It is a great iPod (video and audio)
  2. It is a mini computer
  3. Gaming platform. --> 20,000 games titles available.

iPod Touch:
  1. 8GB for $199
  2. 50% faster
  3. OpenGL ES

Video Camera in the iPod Nano:

This is pretty exciting, as Steve described it as "Tiny little package, having video camera and always having your iPod Nano with you."

100 millions of iPod Nano has been sold.
  1. Video camera
  2. Larger 2.2 inch display
  3. Polished anodized aluminium
  4. Microphone and speaker
  5. VoiceOver
  6. FM Radio
  7. Built-in pedometer
  8. 8GB for $149

Green Concept:
  1. Arsenic-Free glass
  2. NPN-Free
  3. Mercury-Free
  4. PVC-Free
  5. Highly Recyclable

  1. New iTunes 9
  2. New iPod lineups for the holiday season.
  3. New iPod Nano with built-in video camera

And the best part is that after watching the keynote, I actually thought that I wanted to get an iPod Nano because I am actually looking for a good quality small video camera.

The marketing is effective!
